Got calls on all our phones yesterday from TTnT to come sign the new contract for the ''free'' upgrade from 1MB to 3MB at the same price!
Went to the office and all the girls in the office were calling customer to do the same!5 girls with one priority, yet the company isn't getting more money from any of them!?????????????????????
I asked how they do the increase? They didn't know!
I asked when will I see the increased speed? They didn't understand!
Asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and I said yes. They made a phone call and said he was busy at the moment!
Wife was yacking with the girls and somehow it came out that it was alreay done.
Left the office thinking, they must have changed providers or something ,because they were insistent on everyone signing a new contract as if it was mandatory!
Manager never did call back and my speed is the same as before, sometimes OK and sometimes not

Re: TTnT 3 MB internet
Stan,
I had the same thing happen about six months ago with TOT. I had their "Cyber Gold" package which is their 2Mb connection (2048 kbps down, 512 kbps up) service. They doubled the down speed for free - so now I have 4096 down and 512 up. Speed test shows that I get more than 75% to BKK and the same to the USA (in the early or late evenings). I have great VoIP phone calls and bittorrent movies very well.
How do they do this? Most of the change is done at the local DSLAM (digital subscriber line access module) and is usually a card swap. DSL is speed limited the further you go from the DSLAM. Why? Because the phone wires are too thin to handle bandwidth at certain distances. This is why cable internet (cable TV - thick COAX) in most countries is super fast - at least 20 Mb download speeds.
For my DSL service here in the Jungle (the Mod will delete my Ampur's name!!) TOT's local DSLAM is located at our local Or Ba Tor's office building - less than 200 meters away. So, my connection rocks. Even in the recent heavy rains, the internet is humming away.
What I am thinking is Thailand is finally catching up to higher internet speeds - dare I say standards. So there is really no provider change. All service is still controlled by CAT for internet in/out of Thailand.
Take the free upgrade and log into your DSL modem at 192.168.1.1 (don't worry Mods - we all have this private IP address) to verify the upgrade. For TOT DSL service/modem, user name is admin, password TOT - so I do not know what it would be for TT&T. Insure you see the download speed as 3072 kbps and ??? kbps upload speed. If you do not, call TT&T and ask why. You will not need a new modem - as I said before - the change is done at the local DSLAM. Also test the speed at varying times thru out the day and you should be getting at least 60% - 75% of your up and down values.
Good Luck.
Dave
