What would be a good girl for me would be 1) one I can communicate with (so she should speak a bit of English and me speak a bit of thai at least) so we can know each other and share together and 2) one that we both feel good together and want both to stay together.

I think that the hi class, midle class or poorer class question doesn't change anything ; if you are both well together it doesn't matter does it ? More a question of being able to discuss and exchange about our differences (culture, background, way of life etc) and accept each other and be happy together.

I don't really believe in internet meeting sites. Lots of scams there but also because I believe in meeting in real. The few first minutes can say a lot about each other for me. Mutual attraction and feeling well together just to talk then is very important for me.

I understand also the post about Philipean women prefered to thai women by some. Catholic, use to the idea of living elsewhere in the world as many philipeans do, etc... Can help to get both closer to each other in the first place and can help avoid some difficulties perhaps in some cases. But well, I have visited Thailand twice already and really like the bit of their culture I have discovered and thai people. So I will stick to Thailand for now ;)

As for the classification : good girls / nice girls / party girls / "bad" girls... hum... don't think it is that simple... as some said, a good girl can't turn "bad" and a one time "bad" girl can come out good. Depend on what you are looking for in the relationship and how you treat each other (yep, goes both ways ;)) no ?

The overall difficulty stay in the "be able to communicate" and "understand the other one ways of life". Impossible to feel good with someone for me if you can't communicate and understand the other well (language and culture). So, no other choice than to learn Thai as much as I can and spend times there (3 to 4 weeks perhaps some time to time) to live and understand better thai culture. Perhaps I will never meet a girl that I like and who like me in Thailand, but I will be happy for the life experience. Might even think about retirement there when time comes, who knows ;)

DeNuit,,,,,,,,,,,, Maybe you should try and find someone who is compatible because you both have something in common,,,,, how about connecting with a Thai woman that works in the same profession as you? That might make a big difference.

Good point on the something in common LoongLee yep. But there is a terrible down side to a relationship within the same profession I have found out... the to easy way to talk "work/office" at home at any moments and much too often ;) . I love my job/work, but I do also like to leave it at the office when I have finished my day. Maybe talk about my job a bit at home sometime and hear about her day at work too... but not too often or too deeply. Just casual conversation between two people who wants to know how was the other day ; but without going into the technical/university side of it each time for hours ;)

I would prefer to find someone I have a hobby or something like that in common. A moment we find relaxing separatly but that we can share together :)

Bad girls are where it's at. My little friend drinks, smokes, has various tattoos, basically
if there's trouble afoot, she has her finger in it. Lying, deception, trickery, manipulation
are all part of the daily landscape for us. I'll be lucky if I survive to the end of the year.

For the sceptics, I met my (then future) wife nine years ago in Udon and we were married six years ago. Today is our wedding anniversary.

Fantastic Luck fcb, obviously a woman of ''good heart'' who found her perfect mate. There are true honest gems out there, there is alot of luck involved in finding them!

It is obvious to me that you give and get honest respect that transcends some cultural customs and difficulties.

I have that in my life,so some of our personal past preferences and/or customs/expectations have lost their importance in our relationship that is guided by our ''good hearts'' desirious of having an honest ,self respecting and growing family relationship!

I feel very ''lucky'',both for my present relationship and the fact that my lessons in the first relationship were not to financially taxing or ''evil'',although, emotionally,I felt that way at the time.Today,I see my part in that drama,my mistakes,my naivety of Thai culture in all forms, but especially in relationship to ''truth'',''face'',''love'',personal motives and communication problems(really understanding what each of us meant when speaking and hearing a second language between each other)! :D

guys listen up ... marriage is a legally binding contract. if you remain in the jusrisdiction where you undertook that obligation, its enforceable.

people are what you allow them to be to you....look before you take that leap of faith.

over and out......... :pirate:

I have to agree with "Izzix" , nearly every women you meet is manipulativeand trying to con you. They smile at you when you first them, they then flirt, make you like them, but after some time, they then reveal the hidden agenda, they come out with stories how they need money because someone cheated them and they are desperate and you are the only one who can help.

Simple rule of thumb to be honest "most" Thai woman marry within their own race , so that leaves a high percentage of woman of lets say lower moral on the last chance saloon tied down with a children from a previous marriage with a Thai man so = welcome Mr Farang the womans motive is clear to see in quite a few cases.
Good and bad intentions in every country around the world but I feel that the farang get the pick of the lower end of the spectrum "in general"

HENCE a good thai lady is hard to find (hence the horror stories) simple as that.
