Well I must say my debut at the NM meeting was great. Met with some great people and they made myself, the wife and kids all feel at home. Thanks to everyone.

well we may get some stick from some members , calling us mafia and all , but i dont think you could get so many differant people of all ages from all corners of the globe together in one place , throw in some alcohol , and find a better bunch of guys anywhere !!! never had a bad night there myself , and never even heard a bad word said . so any of you doubters out there who are in udon , the second saturday of the month , take old timers word , and join us . the more the merrier !!!!! you will not be disapointed , unless of course your a miserable old fart , who doesnt like good company , a bit of fun ,and a laugh ive made some really good friends there , i would not even know had i not been talked into going the first time by ralph .

Stan,I want to go to the NM Sometime,Maybe when I come back again ( November /December ) If we can arrange to go together,I will pick you up as I dont drink now......Well maybe a couple just to be Sociable,Think it would be good to meet some of the BM's on here.....Cant make it August fly back to UK on about 7th......

let me ad to my good friend saint (Doug) post you will meet friends that will be a life time for you
trust me and just come and enjoy your self I have made friends here that are more loyal than the friends I have back in the USA they will pick up the phone & ask if your OK they will ask if you need some thing
if you can not get away your self back in the USA I could be laying on floor unable to get up for over a month and no one would notice or inquire that say a lot that would never happen with my friends here
they would not only be on the phone they would be at your door thank you all for being there for me

Hi all,

I am finally getting back to Udon arriving the 29th of July 2009.

I was wondering if you guys still meet at the night market and if so when then next meeting after the 29th was.

Also where abouts the Night Market is. A mp grid reference would be good.

Does lack of response to my post mean that

1. No one goes to the night market for beers each month anymore?

2. It is now such a large group you don't have a room for me?

3. It is now a sub group of the Masons and I need to be invited by two members and eat live gold fish to join?

4. No one likes me and I should just go to any market and drink by myself?

If I get no response from this post I will take the hint and move on.

2nd Sat of the month,the next one would be Aug. 8th.You only posted 3 hours bewwen post at mid day here,not many locals online.

We usually get there around PM and are usually gone by 9 PM.most others get there closer to 7 pm and stay later!

Look forward to meeting you.The group usually winds up at several tables put together in the large food/drink court in front of the Big Screen.We usually start out around vendor table #20 for our eats before moving out to the large court area!

There is no actual formal protocol and you can do as you wish,but usually the ladies all sit together so they can meet,gossip about us and eat their somtom,while we talk about all the other important ''stuff''

mfK I am not a Get Together attendee, but they do still meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

5. all of the above . next one is on the 8th aug , start around 7 ish , by the big screen just past the food stalls . be good to meet you , im sure you will be made welcome . you can bring a lady from kutchup , im sure the girls will make her welcome as well .

Not sure how this is going to effect the meeting blokes that like their football, ESPN who now have the TV rights to most of the big games have announced that all Saturday night matches will be a 5.30pm kick off. Thats 11.30 till 1.30am here. Don't think the market will be open for that,If they still show them that is.

That is not quiet correct TB...
Citing "unfair trading practices" the EU made The Premiership offer a certain number of games to a broadcaster other than Sky TV. The bid was won by Irish broadcaster Setanta who have held it for the last two seasons. Unfortunately they went bust!!! The rights to broadcast all Premier League matches in Ireland and 46 matches in England that was previously owned by Setanta has been sold to ESPN. In addition ESPN will now show some American Sports that it already owns in USA.
Sky will still own the majority of live games shown in the UK....
In addition ESPN have joined up with Sky TV to take over the rights for the Scottish Premier League that was also formerly owned by Setana. Both with show 30 live Scottish games a season across the UK.
ESPN are owned by Disney & have put some major money into what is really a new UK operation (it did broadcast via Sky before, but very little in the way of live sporting action except US sports). Ray Stubbs (who has worked for BBC sports for over 25 years is one of its new presenters).

I'm glad it's on the second Saturday now! When we were there last Xmas/New Years we went that first Sat. of Jan. Unfortunately the wife was catching a cold and I was tired so we were there for only 30 minutes or so. We'll be arriving at the Irish on the 7th so we'll be there for sure

Ray Stubbs has most probably seen the light, and jumped ship as the BBC over 25 years have lost everything except Wimbledon, and Golf. The way it's going all the BBC will have left is indoor pub games.
Anyone remember Indoor League with Brian Truman in the 1970's?

I generally not 1 to split hairs but. I think you will find that was 3day and 3hours between posts.

Anyway. Thanks for the details. I have have tried over the last 3 visit to udon to get to meet you all. but I always seemed to pick the wrong dates and missed it.
