Here it is in English. Good to see that the idiot that caused this got 7 years, 4 of them at hard labor.

Suu Kyi Found Guilty, to Return to House Arrest
Tuesday , August 11, 2009

RANGOON, Burma —

A Burmese court found pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi guilty Tuesday of violating her house arrest, but the head of the military-ruled country said she could serve out an 18-month sentence under house arrest.

Uninvited American visitor John Yettaw was sentenced to 7 years in prison, including 4 years of hard labor.

The court initially sentenced Suu Kyi to a three-year prison term. But after a five-minute recess, the country's home minister entered the courtroom and read aloud a special order from junta chief Senior Gen. Than Shwe.

The order said Than Shwe was cutting the sentence in half to 18 months and that it could be served under house arrest.

Suu Kyi has already been in detention for 14 of the last 20 years, mostly under house arrest.

The order, signed Monday, likewise reduced the sentences of Suu Kyi's two female house companions to 18 months.

Than Shwe said he reduced the sentence to "maintain peace and tranquility" and because Suu Kyi was the daughter of Aung San, a revered hero who won Burma's independence from Britain.

Suu Kyi's trial has sparked international outrage and calls for her release and that of Myanmar's more than 2,000 other political prisoners.

Myanmar is having elections. With Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest, it removes her from the political scene.

having watched this on channel news asia and the beeb, it seems she has broken no laws and this is an illegal sentence. Also and more pointed is the fact that she was under house arrest therefore a prison sentence, which leads on to who is responsible for the security of that prison (her house)..??? Quite obviously not her!!!! so this dick head getting in is not her responsibility but the security that surrounds her house 24 hours a day!!!! hence an illegal sentence as she broke no laws.... Also when the junta took power the constitution was dissolved so there are actually no laws but only what the junta decide are laws at the time!!!!

Yes, that's about the size of it, Dave. The One-Eyed Idiot is talking about further sanctions against the Burmese Junta. Fortunately for them, he has the memory retention of a Goldfish.

hope this didn't surprise anyone. 18 months, just long enough to miss the 'elections', that's a laugh in itself.

and sanctions, the USA/UN are useless in having or enforcing any sanctions, as long as their good friends, closest and largest nations in the area keep buying their energy, and of course, the usa keeps using their drugs, the cash to finance the junta just keeps flowing in. why would they change. 8)

Yup I guess i did speak too soon. Isn't this a crazy world we live in? But i guess I can't fault the Burmese government. Hell, we let OJ go free after he decapitated his wife. And he really had to work hard at it to get sent to the slammer eventually. I guess it's too much to hope that the idiot will be charged with some federal offense after he returns to the US? Nahh, the mor(m)ons have too much power.

For what its worth. I knocked back a golf trip to Myamar for 3 days based on my conscious . Just my way of protesting in a small symbolic way.
