Tracing ex g/f

Post by BakewellTart » August 28, 2009, 6:37 am

I will be going to Udon on my next thai visit and wish to recontact an ex g/f of mine.
She lived around Nong Wua So and was I wondering where would be the best place to ask about the family home location.
I only have her name.
Do you think I will be able to trace her.

I think I know her! Is she the thai girl with long black hair? Has a scar on her right leg from a motorcycle muffler burn? Black eyes? Dark skin? Works in a factory in Bangkok..... or was it a hotel in Pattaya.... not sure. I heard her mother is still sick... but she will be better when she gets the money for the opperation! I think I saw her in town with her brother last week. They sure are close to each other!

I think the OP has made it pretty clear that he does not expect anyone else to do the "leg work" as he is willing & able to do that. What he does appear to need is some sort of advice on Nong Wua So, I expect a conception of the size of the place and if there would be a "headman" there who he could go and seek help from.
Sadly I cannot help him on any of these fronts (never having been to Nong Wua So, to my knowledge) but maybe someone else on the Forum can.....
I further imagine that if he needs to read jokes or witticisms he would sign on somewhere else... :(

well, if you have her name, that a good start, hopefully her full name, surname. as there are a few members from that area on this forum, that's a good start.

so..............................let's have it, got a couple that may know the family, and possibly give some good advice, negative or positive.

Nong Wua So is not a small compact place, it's large and spread out, country living w/many villages. so legwork is going to be tough, unless very lucky. advantage, decent farang community. but ask here first, might get lucky. 8)

i tried tracking down a family in a small town from the little ladies neighborhood, and surprising struck out, so good luck. this was a small, old family town, checked everywhere/everyone, and couldn't track down the family, even had house book info. so you have a huge task ahead of you. good luck.

Headman? Why, of course! #-o He walks the halls of government of Nong Wor Sor (as he calls it) and if anyone can find this lost lady, he can! You must hope that she hasn't changed her name as many times as he has, however. [-o<

Actually, if you have the lady's family name and village then it shouldn't be that difficult to find her whereabouts. Hire a Thai driver in Udon and follow the yellow brick road. The news from her village may not be what you want to hear but at least you will know. Chok dee.

Thanks guys ,
Good to see there is a sense of humour up there.

Do you know if there is a Post Office or Kasikorn bank around there.

Maybe I could ask in a Post Office who delivers the mail, or the bank as I still have her old bank number.

Worth a try do you think?, maybe have to tip a clerk or two.

Well if you have her name and bank number you could try depositing a small sum to it. If its accepted then you know she is possibly still around. You could then write a letter , addressed to her in Thai ,c/o the bank, they would normally forward it, maybe a small fee .There is a sub post office in the village of Nong Wor Sor but the main one is located at Amphur Nong Wor Sor 20 kms further on at Non Wai.There is no Kasikorn bank . or any other ,but several ATM machines are available.
If you would care to PM me her name and address I can do a check on the computer records held at Amphur for you at any time. This is based on the information contained in the blue house book. Before the dog starts barking I should say I don't have access to the computers personally but a friend who works there does. This is a service available to all upon request .
Don't believe all you read on this forum. I am not the headman. Just his deputy.

If he has her address surely the best way is to pay a visit....it can only go 2 ways, simple.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Thing is most of our 3 years together was spent in Pattaya , where I bought a home, and Bangkok.
We never spent any time back at her home or Isaan.
Thinking back she always had some reason why we should not go, plus a lot of time was spent sorting the house together.

So I think I want to now go see Isaan and where she came from, and maybe take the chance to locate her .
Not saying I would go meet her, that would depend on circumstances at the time.
Don't want to rock any boats, as you have pointed out.

Obviously I dont want to give the name out on here, [-( ,not respectful.
But thanks for the tips, there are a few avenues to consider.

A post from 2009 answered in 2011????

So did you find her or did you find Mr Trubit?

If you have a bank AC and that AC is still active, you have her real name and adress.
