Brazen Fla. burglar grabs TV in double-steal

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Police in Florida say a burglar who made off with a man's valuables returned to the home later and snatched what he couldn't carry on his first trip: a 100-pound plasma-screen TV.

OK. So let me see if I got this straight.

The burglar breaks into this guy's house, steels he wallet, video gaming system, watch and Plasma TV. Finds that it is to much for him to carry. So, he leaves the TV in the back yard. While the police are there, he comes back and snatches the TV.

I don't either. Most newspaper stories I have see always start out with location.ie Pensacola, Fla. Then, go in to tell the story. The official abbreviation for Florida is FL or Fla. Where does the "T" come from in Hamts for Hampshire?

I also thought it was kinda nice of them offering to buy a new TV for him. Seeing how they decided to leave it outside.

Why is Hampshire sometimes called Hants?

"Hampshire" is often abbreviated in written form to "Hants" and which sometimes gives rise to puzzlement. The abbreviated form is derived from the Old English Hantum plus Scir (meaning a district governed from the settlement now known as Southampton) and the Anglo-Saxons called it Hamtunschire. At the time of the Domesday Book (1086) this was compressed to Hantescire.

Back to the TV. If the cheeky blighter couldn't walk away with it the first time, he probably came back with his mates and a pick up to finish the job which is more incredulous if the poleet didn't spot them.

The short term of Pantaloons..is Pants, just like Hants is short for Hampshire....or should that be Hamps, all sounds pants anyway....and i am pretty certain that the police was not at fault on this one....it was a crime scene, ok not a major one but still don't think they will move stuff around so soon.
So generous on their part.....unless they got one from the unclaimed items 'stores' or items confiscated from profits of crime....
