So we got 8.50 for sausage and mash, a tenner for a burger and 4 quid a pint

If Thailand ever wants to get rid of me they will have to drag me kicking and screaming

Too expensive for who? Not for the buyer or there would be no sale.

Morti does or did make his own Branston Pickle.

Thanks.

wetherspoons do a traditional breakfast at £2.69.

also possibly one of the cheapest pub chains on price of pints of decent beer....none of this £4 price tag.

A Beer and Burger...£4.69...inc choice of drink, pint of strongbow maybe...? a good sized beef burger and thick chips and small salad......lots of UK pubs do silly deals now...seen as low as £2.50 per meal.

Why is anyone surprised that food, beer etc is expensive in the UK when the minimum wage is approx 250-300baht an hour. Then you have other overheads, business rates, heavy utility bills etc. Eating out is a luxury for a lot of people in the UK.
Comparing prices to Thailand is like comparing chalk and cheese.

wetherspoons in manchester still do a 99p pint of bitter ( maybe because theres 7 in city center ) and another 7 real ale
bitters under 2 quid . and as b.m says the food and drink deals realy take some beating .
the only problem with them is you get all the bums ( sorry i mean poor unemployed people ) hanging around all day trying to make 2 pints last 4 hours . a bit like some places in udon realy ....

Is Farang Food to expensive in Udon.............NO
Is the UK too expensive to live in comfortably if you only have a pension..........Yes
Is the first question rather silly...........Yes

You cannot even by any stretch of the imagination even begin to compare the UK to Thailand, for anything, but we try and complain a lot.
There is only one thing that riles us really, it is the inability to ensure security of tenure, it can be done but at a price, apart from that, it is considerably cheaper to live here well , food costs are minimal even farang food, which if you ate every day would seem to be expensive compared to locally produceed items, but as in all things some are good and some are bad, pick and choose and live well.

As often with your replies these days you make a reply to a thread where you quite obviously have not read the original post.

I would wonder if you felt that the question was silly why you bothered to read it & even more why you bothered to reply. A reply which did zero to either move the thread forward or supply any information.

Bob

Whats a good price for Fush and Chups over there now, When i was in Abergaveny in Feb, it was 5-6 quid, for cod and chips.

Dont ask me how much Welsh Lamb was, as it was cheaper to buy in Tescos from NZ !

I reckon that's a loss leader, a promotion to get punters through the door.

wetherpoons - hamburger and chips and pint of lager/bitter £3.49....don't forget the p1ssing rain freezing cold and drinking with a load of geriatrics 9.30am onwards, as for BHS, ASDA, IKEA and whoever else, a fried egg, grilled bacon, hash brown or even worse.. a fried slice cannot keep delicious being under a 120 watt light bulb for 45 minutes or so.
IMO - it's quality not quantity - O/T...working for the UT community.. \:D/

and drinking with a load of geriatrics 9.30am onwards,
Sounds like Udon.
