Lads I am 53 and paid a stamp only from 18 to 21 when I went to HK and then switched to Class 3 ..... believe it or not I got a cheque last year as I had over paid ... and we will get pension at 65 .... later the starting age wil be going up

If you go to http://www.pension- parity-uk. com/ and then follow the link to the Grand Chamber appeal, you will be able to read the full text of Tim Otty's speech. This text is a draft so he may not have followed it word for word.

Also on the same page is a précis of Eadie's speech for the government.

i have just been looking for info for the direct transfer of pension to thai bank and in the section for thailand there is no mention of direct transfer . has anybody been contacted by state pension to see if they want their pension sent this way???

Check out the pension website, as I recall they will start allowing direct transfers to thai banks sometime in october, not sure how they will calculate the exchange rate as I believe they will send in Baht.

tafia, i had a look at the pension website before i made my post and there is nothing i could find that tells us how the system will work. do we contact them , do they contact us?? this system is now supposed to be up and running in several countries this month. pensions state that they send pensions in pounds not local currency

I would have thought you would have to contact them, with bank details etc...
See below extract from Pension Website


From October 2009 additional countries will be: Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen.

Payment will be made in the local currency of the country in which the bank account is held. No charges are made for this service.
