I remember when calculators were available but, the kids were not allowed to take them to school or use them until they could do the math themselves.

In the 5th grade, I had a teacher that kept me after school every day until I learned the multiplications tables. Thank you Mrs. James for caring.

Annoying in UTH....drivers that signal a half mile from their turn.

Drivers that signal their turn as they start to make it. They try to keep it a secret.

I've only been to 30 countries, but Udon Thani has the worst drivers I've ever seen. Ever.

My list includes India, Cambodia, Korea, Indo, Laos ... and most of Thailand's provinces.

Try france then, there they do not even indicate and aim their cars at you. I can personally vouch for this comment!!!! :

I've driven in Udon, along into Loei, i found it all pretty relaxing! Perhaps because as a Brit, nice to have a sensible country driving like us, on the left. :D Phuket bit dodgy because of volume of traffic maybe. Worst country i've found for drivers is Egypt. Maybe because most egyptians are colour blind i'm told, and can't tell red from green, like in traffic lights!

There are even worst drivers than Egyptians - their neighbours the Libyans. Fortunately there are not many of them and they do not get out of the country much. Once, we were working near the football stadium and there was an international match about to start. The traffic was getting bad so we decided to pack up early. The road was a dual carriageway, stadium traffic on the otherside. Their 2 lanes filled up, they started driving on the sand at the side of the road. Then on the central reservation. Then in out fast lane! then in our one remaining lane! we ended up crawling along on the grass and sand at the side of the road, because any other lane was a dead cert head on crash. Libyans never stop at cross roads - Insh allah - if god wills it they will crash so just keep on going. If there are traffic lights they sometimes stop, but only sometimes.
So like thai drivers on yabba!
