Best Udon Pizza?
The wife had a craving for pizza this afternoon so we hiked into the city and did the deed.... We went to the pizza restuarant in the complex, American Pizza I think it's called, I must say I wasn't very impressed, same old fast food style pizza we used to eat after a few beers back home. Well, I guess it is that style of restuarant.
So the question is where is the best Pizza in town................?

I guess that depends on your definition of good pizza Even in the usa it is hard to find for me (good pizza). but it never comes from a chain store! Here in Udon, it does not exist What is passable after a few beers is at City Lodge, as long as Andy is working the ovens. But I have noticed that the price with the new owners has priced it out of my reach
It is huge, but not as good as City Lodge! But i guess it all comes back toLee wrote: Over the road near the night market is x Roma, I haven't tried their pizzas yet, but I've heard some good reports.

Surely, it also depends on size!! LOL
I believe at the Pizza company they range from about approx 100 baht, through 200 to 300 for small, medium or large. I had a medium delivered last week, which cost 199 baht.
Seven Eleven have pizza slices, but based on their quality they should pay you to take them away!

Tried both Pizza Company and x Roma pizza on latest trip when I was famished and both were "good". Forgot previous posts that extolled the virtues of pizza offered by City Lodge so missed out on it. Oh well, something to look forward to next trip if they're still in business.I guess that depends on your definition of good pizza
Here in South Florida, we have a huge number of transplanted New Yorkers and they do know pizza. Lots of good pizza and bagel joints here. The kow paht and pad-see-ew is not worth a baht, tho.

ah yes how many patrons of 7-11 have purchased that pizza slice and regreted it straight after. Surely not good for repeat buisness.arjay wrote:

even after a large amount of chang you won't find me parting with my baht for it.
Can You Dig It Dug.?
Went to Picola Roma last week, had an excellent pizza that I thought was pricey at 180baht for a small one, but when it came it really was quite big so didn't seem bad value, very tasty and with some wine, bill was 1,300bht.for two. Completely spoilt when this weekend we went to the nightmarket to eat and walking through the path between his shop and the adjoining one which he has now rented we were told in very strong terms we weren't to walk through there. Now in my wifes eyes a footpath is a footpath and putting a few tables (empty) out there doesn't give you ownership. there was also problems with motorcyclists being blocked off from parking that end of the car park. Not really a way to make friends(customers )in Thailand.
Won't go back again.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea to me. Would not care to be enjoying a nice bottle of wine and pizza and having troups of people walking thru the dinning area, good chance of wearing my wine. Would also think that some money is being paid for space tables take up.
Also glad about the bikes, in the past was almost impossible to get buy them! Even blocking the somewhat marked no parking area

pizza
i tried a pizza at city lodge even before they had the opening night the first time round a few years ago it was very good
but since then i wouldent eat there for free poor service high prices for less then average food
i remember my chicken salad if i was true it was the worst effort i have ever seen
but i guess when you spend a 15 million baht you have to try and get your money back some way
also heard some guys complain that they where put of there breakfests at city lodge buy a large lump of lard passed out at 1 of the tables
its not what i would like to wake up next to either

I eat at the City Lodge all the time, always good service and good food, I've never had a bad experience. The place IMHO is very clean and well run, and the owners are very friendly.but since then i wouldent eat there for free poor service high prices for less then average food

I guess every place has good a bad times, you obviously caught them during a bad time.
If you do go back, try the Bangers 'n' Mash, Steak Pie Chips 'n' Gravy or the Cottage Pie. All top quality IMHO.

Stayed there at CL was ok, no hot water for a few days, Pizza was very thin , cost 200 Baht, they charged me 50 Baht for bringing my own wine to the shop I brought down the road, First time I being charged for Corkage in Thailand, the west is catching up fast.
Enjoyed the Pizza, but same price as here in Oz, and at 300 the Pizza company was dearer than Oz pizza
Staff were a bit stand off, the head Thai manager is a sour face puss, the chef is good. the had trouble with staff from their other place Irish clock while I was there , seems Dad of owner was chatting up the staff, gave it a miss and left after 3 weeks to stay else where
But food passes for me
will go back there again for the blackboard menu

i think "andy" makes a great pizza and his understudy tom is catching up on him.
very helpful and friendly staff. always willing to oblige, even when i arrived late one evening, Andy fired up the pizza oven again.
thanks tracey, tom and andy for the food.
