Re: very short lived marriage
Well Vlad, you started a 4-page thread on that other site concerning the honesty of Thai women, and many of the posters refuted your view, and criticised not only you and the title, but your way of thinking about Thai ladies/women as well. Some said your stereotyping was racist.
Sorry to say but it is not widely understood that Thais are known for cheating and scheming any more than other people on this planet.
As the mighty chang advised, take a look at yourself in the mirror.
Khon Dahm, was Sandra Dee the lady who caught the interest of Bobby Darin, or was that Tuesday Weld?

Ah, your talking about a real-life Sandra DeeTilokarat wrote:Khon Dahm, was Sandra Dee the lady who caught the interest of Bobby Darin, or was that Tuesday Weld?

I'm referring to a fictional character in a very popular American movie of the 70's (set in the 50's) starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
Rizzo was basically a tramp character. "Sandra Dee" or Sandy, was a wholesome "girl next door" character.

Re: very short lived marriage
Thanks for that. Such a sad life for poor Sandra and Bobby Darin.
Yes, she was the Sandra Dee I was thinking of from the movie Grease. I wonder if they based the character you mentioned on the real Sandra? Well, I guess not if the one was a tramp and the real one was an alcoholic.
Do many parents name their kids Sandra any more? It's a nice name.

Sorry you refute what i posted, but im afraid that is my opinion which i am entitled to. Am i not allowed to post on the OTHER site god forbid. I will ask you the same question I asked on the other site Tilokarat, its a simple question that only needs a simple answear. Do thai woman have a reputation for lyeing and cheating. I dont want a lesson on other race's and countrys its about thais, and i never used any racist tone's all the times i have posted well over 500 i think, i have never used the racist card to attack anyone apart from muslims here in the uk. So why you had to make that remark is anyones guess.

Yes,Vlad, I agree that Thai women have a reputation for lying. In fact, I have yet to meet anyone in my life who has not told a lie. Thus, I will take a broader view than you and say that everyone on this planet has a reputation for lying including me and you.
Cheating...define it please. If by cheating you mean having multiple boyfriends, or playing around, there is probably a little of that amongst Thai women, and more, amongst Thai men. However, my test group is relatively small and includes a few Thai ladies and their families and friends, storekeepers, service people and so on. In any case the 'cheaters' would probably approximate the number of farangs in Thailand who 'cheat' in one form or another.
The upshot is that I find most Thais to be honest, upright and decent people.
I will provide you with a similar answer to this on the other Udon forum later.

Re: very short lived marriage
I'm with you on this one Tilo.
Lying is a human invention and practised by everyone all over the world.
Cheating happens also all over the world but not more in Thailand than in any western or Asian country.
Mortiboy is right: what we (old farts) find here in Thailand is a younger pretty sexy woman who will take care of us until we die. She will not put us in a home for the elderly (my nightmare) but she will stay with you till your last breath. In exchange we provide her with a better life than she had before so she is more than happy with that new life.
Don't forget that Thais have learned to be happy with the life they have, their religion helps them in that way.
Speaking for myself: I'm happy with my life in Thailand with my much younger, attractive and careful wife and even if expats don't find the right one at the first attempt they will eventually find a woman to take care of them.
This is as Mortiboy stated not true love as such, it is an agreement between two people concerning their future.
Nothing wrong with that.
I agree also with Mortiboy that if you don't live here you will not know the people and cannot have an objective opinion about them. Living amongst them is the only way to get to know them and (in my experience) appreciate them.

I know I'm a miserable old git morti, but that's the way I like it. From past experiences trying to be friends with neighbours always ends tears. The least I have to do with neighbours the better I like it. You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your neighbours.mortiboy wrote:Not one of them even talks to each other.....strange!

Thank you for your reply Tilo it was half of what i expected from an inteligent individual that you seem to be although even i don't have to define what a cheat is read some of stickmans post. I asked you if you thought thai woman had a reputation for being lier's and cheats and you said yes. So as far as i am concerned thats good enough for me.

Re: very short lived marriage
I reckon the present state of this thread says it all - bookended, by Izzix at the start, and (currently, except for me) ended by vlad.
No need to say any more really.
ps Tilo got it absolutely right.
