The second donation has been recieved, I have been asked not to use names and I am honoring that. I have set up an account system so the money that is given is shown and the how the money is spent.

My plan at this junture is to get approval, from the contibutors for expeditures above 2K baht.

The books will be available minus names to anyone who wants to review them. at this juncture and and all monies are being used to fund the ticket purchase for the VFW party.

The current accounting is as indicated:

Income 0
Expeditures Treats -600
Ice cream -360
VFW -30960
Donation -28120 3800
Donation -11120 17000

I just purchased a few tickets to the VFW picnic on the 2nd. On the ticket and poster is states: "children under 12 free". Maybe it means children under 12 free when accompanied by a paid admission. But surely they could give a break in price for the children of the orphange?

I was in fact offered that and I declined it.

That offer is obviously meant for a family, not a 140 free tickets.

The other thing I think is very important to remember is this is a fund raising event for the VFW. I am no longer a member of the VFW, but I know in the past that money has been used for the VFW Christmas party, thier other annual event.

I am hoping that the children are invited back for that event which is a totaly free event. Everyone is served food there will be a Santa and each child is given a free wrapped Christmas present. You can imagine the cost involved in that .

For me this is a real balancing act, the goal is to do no harm to any group, but to provide positives for the children, the community and the VFW.

I think this will do that, at least I hope am I right.

Yes Ray, you are doing no harm. You are doing nothing but good with the kids. I would think that there would be no problem to bring the kids back at xmas time.

Well I'm hoping no offers yet, I'm not a member anymore but I have one that I think will propose just that.

I have to say doing this the first time has sort of been like being a fireman putting out little fires of misunderstanding. Once everyone gets a look at the total picture they seem to be very supportive. The first time in doing anything is always the hardest. Next time if it happens I already know some mistakes and I can avoid them.

Until Christmas I plan on doing things on a much smaller scale and primarily at the home. The logitics of getting this little critters from point A to B with this mnay nu,mbers is a interesting undertaking alone. Thank goodness for Too Pro, really saved the bacon on that one.

True words Ray, I started off speaking English at one school, didn't take long for the other schools to get wind of my work and wanted me to go to their school ,
I had to make the decission, not to go to the large schools, and only go to the local small schools with in Udon,

The Ban Khao San Girls Home, Udon is just one of many that need support, it also happens to be close to Udon, so every one will have a different view on where to give their time and support

My visit to Yoshkar _Ola Russia was the same thing , such a big country, and to be able to put up space craft , yet their life out from Moscow in the village is the same as thailand, Worse they have very little English ability, but I enjoyed my time there, due to the high cost and 2 days travel to get there , I stayed with Thailand

Keep the good work going we make a difference

Just to put everyone at ease along with the staff we will have roughly 7 volunteers plus ten paid( minimal 100 baht) assistants from Rajapat University to assist with the chidren and assure thier safety, believe me I take this very seriously.

The other thing is every person chidren, staff and helpers will be readily identifiable each will be wearing a ribbon of a specific color. So that we can see which children are part of our group and the chidren can easily identify adults who are there to help them.

Lee showed up today baht and in hand and to my surprise we had another 1500 baht contibuted that I didn't even know about.

We are well on our way to meeting the goal of 200 tickets.

Well it happened I have 200 tickets in hand.

Actually It really look like there may be a bit extra. If we get lucky and win the bike a substanial extra since it will be sold and the money put in the fund. So everybody keep thier fingers crossed.

Whatever monies that are left I will go back to the people who contributed and let them decide how to use it. As to me little things for a while, would be just fine. If we are invited to the VFW Christmas party that will be another big event requiring transporatation and such just like this one. So by Decemmber I may be ready to take that on again

For those of you who have helped what can I say THANK YOU :D

Thanks to all the volunteers and contributors.

Well done Ray - you have really made a difference to those young orphan's lives. They had a fantastic day out and they all left with a nice gift and a smile on their faces..

For once I am lost for words, all I can say is fantastic Ray. I have never seen so much eaten by so few, never so many genuinely happy smiles. You sure made a difference to those kids lives today. wil post pictures later. You won't mind if I omit the one of me drinking beer out of a babies bottle will you?
All for a good cause I might add.
Thanks is also due to all the hard working VFW guys. Don't see many of you very often but when we do, you sure make an impression. Happy 4th to you all.
