I don't understand how this thread has gone astray?
I don't understand/know about AB2F or Dave, whatever he supposedly did, or any of this other stuff?
To be honest, I don't give a good flying fvck!
FYI, it is quite common in the Food & Beverage industry to recruit employees from competing restaurants, hotels, etc. S.O.P. I know, I spent close to thirty years in the business

What I do know, is that Andy is a great chef/baker, and I look forward to enjoying many great meals there and being able to take home Andy's delicious baked goods =P~ .

jingjai, spot on,good post,as i believe it Andy was already doing bakery goods at TheCity lodge and carried on doing it at Aussie pub and residence and lately at a beer too far(so it is really his business and his reputation that built it to what it is today) many good chefs have signature dishes of 1 description or another and when they move on it is either replicated by the last employer(sometimes with bad consequences) or removed from the menu. When i did the original post it was merely to let people(who had enquired) know where Andy was and what he was doing, most people at sometime or another decide to move employer and he has now moved on to pastures new,i for 1 as i am sure will many others posters, wish him all the best in his new employ.Just let him get on with what he does best, chok dee, johnty.

Hi all

Yummy has had a soft opening over Songkran, so it gets a bit of exposure. Kitchen and bathroom construction will continue after Songkran until the end of the month, after which it will be opened properly as a Restaurant, Bakery and a place for a cold beer and impromptu jams..

We're not a proper bar, but rather a place where one can bring their families and wives, and they can feel comfortable there..

Thanks for you patience.

Dave

Tep Udon hardware/machinery store at the fountain circle, at the end of Adulyadej Road.. beside the old Ford showroom)

Yummy update - still awaiting the kitchen to be completed, although the bakery is happening..

AC has been installed in the main restaurant..

I know Andy is not on-line at present (too much #-o on his hands to use a computer).

I think the idea is to phone your orders in advance, much the same as now.
Mind you we may be able to talk him into getting up at 3am every day and doing a daily bake like they do back home :-"

Phone in orders for now please.. Andy's # 087-2374569.. Once the restaurant is up and running, you'll be able to walk in and buy them off the shelf.. say a month from now..

Also Andy is making very delicious Chicken Curry pies - about a quarter the size of the steak pies..

Cheers

Is that a good idea to post a personal phone number on an open forum Dave?

I remember Andy from the City Lodge when I stayed there a few years, great chap and FANTASTIC chef, he made the place, stayed there again once after he'd left and that was the last time. Think the only thing that bettered he's cooking for him was his golf!

STREWTH ............ If his golf was better than his cooking, I'm surised we didn't all get food poisoning !!
At least the cooking has improved since those days ..... more than I can say for the golf !!

Stattointhailand that's why I said "Think the only thing that bettered he's cooking for HIM was his golf!" ;-) for me it was definately the cooking

Sorry Ban Phu, what's left of brain puting the words into the order it wanted to read instead of the actual order
In reply to Jingjai, IT IS OPEN. I visited yesterday, and they had a single page menu, but all the usual stuff was there ..... pies/burgers/cottage Pie/steak etc

YUMMY RESTAURANT & BAKERY

Post by jingjai » June 16, 2010, 4:08 pm

I enjoyed a great Fish & Chips (180 baht) for lunch today. Generous piece of nicely battered fish, large portion of chips (done to perfection), plus peas, carrots, and corn. My friend had a generous bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich served on a large french roll.

Actually, Moss is ex-New york Bar and Grill. They re-did the bar based around a new menu that Moss had set up, and then just when things were starting to take off(business-wise), so did Moss. No notice, and no indication that he was leaving. Left them high and dry. They had no choice but to close their doors. So as good as his culinery skills are, I wonder about his character.(ethics) :-k
