Safety in Udon Thani

Quite clearly Royal Thai Airforce C-130 hercs they fly a shuttle daily from BKK to udon and its used as a training flight they sometimes do touch and go. Also the Thai airforce have a skydiveing club and get to use the C-130 or the G222 which is smaller than C-130 and only 2 enginees.

Quite possibly - the Dems face a court action in the foreseeable future, and a likely election late this year. Other than those possibilities, I doubt it.

I would have thought if it was proven to be operating illegally it would have been ordered by a court of law to close .Raked by army gunfire? Look out CNN.

"Law and Order" is defined by the elite of each country in their own interests. Police and Soldiers are pawns of the elite, the biggest gangs in town. The true power of EVERY country (including England) is with the army, when democracy does not suit the generals, it will be quickly disposed of. (who do you think got rid of Harold Wilson ?)

I feer that you Udonuk, like the massive majority of Redshirts in the street, are starting to believe what they want you to believe. Thaksin and all the puppets that appeared on stage in the guise of "leaders" of the reds, are, and will be quickly "replaced" as soon as the "Real Reds" have their hands on the power. Those faceless descision makers, who have plotted how to destableise the government and country, are just sitting in the wings waiting to take over. So far every move made by the "Redshirts" has come straight from the book of Maoist Revolutionary Theory. The five tactics they teach for unseating a government included: divide your enemies; form a united front; use provocative violence; secure the loyalty of people inside the ruling regime; and, finally, win over the army.
The government people have been quarrelling about what to do. Some senior figures have a divided loyalty. The army and the police cannot move and provocative violence has been very successful.


And before anyone says it, I didn't think the above up, it is loosly based on articles that have appeared in Asia Times.

The redshirt terrorists feel "they have been attacked!" By whom? Who attacked them before they went to Bangkok to play havoc? Who attacked them when they were there destroying our capital and ruining the lives and income for hundreds and hundreds of Thais? Who attacked them when they attacked Bangkok, shot and killed people?
Who? Maybe by their own so called leaders, whose cars have been found to contain guns, rifles, ammunition and explosives. Of course that was needed when they went to have their peaceful demonstration.

As I drove around the burned out buildings today, I couldn't help but wonder how an angry mob of people were able to gather, transport, and overtake 3 government buildings. The Municipality building is toast (photo), the old Provincial building is toast, and the new building across from the post office has 2 floors out. Included are a number of government vehicles/fire trucks burned out as well. The end result doesn't speak very highly of the city's police who should have been prepared for some sort of reaction to the events in Bangkok.

I saw several of these signs around town today......An announcement by an individual on May 20, 1992 (following the protest in Bangkok against the government of General Suchinda Kraprayoon and the bloody military crackdown that followed)....my gist of which says:
"What's the benefit of being proud when you're sitting on a pile of debris?"
The bottom of the sign advises tetsabahn customers to go to the Provincial Administrative Organization (located on the same road with Tourist Authority of Thailand).

Just noted in The Nation that Udon's police chief was sacked. That makes sense to me.

Police chiefs in NE provinces removed

Four provincial police chiefs have been transferred to inactive posts at the Royal Thai Police headquarters as punishment for their failure to prevent red-shirt protesters torching city halls, reports said.

The Royal Thai Police Office on Thursday issued an urgent order to Provincial Police Region 4 to remove the police chiefs of Khon Kaen, Mukdaharn, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani and reassign them to headquarters in Bangkok.

The order also instructed them to appoint the senior deputy police chiefs of the four provinces as acting provincial police chiefs.

The regional chief then appointed acting provincial police chiefs including Pol Maj Gen Chalermchai Jongsiri, who is appointed as acting chief in Khon Kaen, and Pol Maj Gen Theerasak Klinpongsa, who is appointed as acting chief in Mukdaharn. The orders take effect from today.

On Tuesday, interior permanent secretary Manit Wattanasen signed an order transferring the governors of Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Mukdaharn and Ubon Ratchathani provinces to temporary duty at the Ministry of the Interior for failing to protect their city halls, which were burnt down despite orders that all state property should be well protected.

Very sad indeed to see those photos. I have friends who worked in those buildings.

We live next to the army base in Nong Sam Rong. When the call came over the base loudspeaker at 13:20 for the troops to assemble and move out in 30 minutes...the buildings were already on fire...too little, too late.
