Peking Duck

Post by Chriss » May 26, 2010, 11:05 am

Does any member know where I can take the wife in Udon and get Peking Duck, the dish with crispy duck skin or shredded duck meat that you wrap in small steamed pancakes with veggies and hoisin sauce?

The Chinese restaurant on the second floor of the Charoensri Grand at the complex (now under a new name) used to have it. We ate there several years ago with visiting friends....had the duck and several other dishes. Pricey but well presented and delicious.

Thanks for the offer, but my cooking skills don't extend beyond making an excellent cup of coffee.

I think one of the problems is the preparation required for presenting a Peking duck .I had a very nice version at the Chareonsri Grand as it was . But it was ordered 2 days beforehand as part of a seminar feast . I understand that the whole duck must be dried in the sun for a whole day beforehand. So it really isn't an on the menu item .I am sure most good restaurants are able to produce one if ordered in advance .

Upstairs in the Central Chareonsi Hotel ( 1st Floor for us Aussies ) is a Chinese restaurent , they advertise dim sum buffets daily and included in the picts is Peking Duck.

Next place I know of is the Pullman Hotel in Khon Kaen on Sundays and its included in the dim sum buffet there.

Yes at the Centara Hotel 2nd florr in lobby the Chinese place there has Peking Duck which is great and not bad at only 650 baht just as good as the 1000 baht you pay in Phuket. Anyway huge menu, much to choose from and good service. Worth for a good night dinner out.
