Signs for concern?

Post by Brian Davis » November 25, 2008, 8:00 am

I’m certain many posters have seen odd/amusing signs in Thailand. I rather liked crap soup on a Phuket menu, but wasn’t sure if it meant an ingredient or was an opinion. Perhaps both?

But today in Makro, there was a small OTOP food stall with sign (you know the sort) ‘ Clean food. Good testes’. Ooooppsss. I can think of one woman who would probably like to separate my ‘attachments’ from the rest of me, by one means or another, but the thought that they might then go on sale would really be adding insult to injury!

The Makro sign painters seem to be somewhat English challenged. Saw a sign there not long ago that said "Dog Meat" in the frozen meat section. Wife explained that these were meat scraps and bones left after butchering and sold to the dog owners. I think. I hope. Cheap, though. =P~

Either that or its where all the local Soi dogs have their weekly meeting, and discuss the strength of the baht and the best places to get a good left over meal along with where are the best homes to take a dump outside off. ;)

Reminds me of a couple of teeshirts spotted in Lampang:

One on a middle-aged Thai woman riding a moped proclaiming 'F... You, I'm from Texas'

... and another promoting a local air-con firm with the company motto emblazoned on the back stating
'The joy of natural wind'

My wife was preparing dinner, opening a packet bought in Tesco's, when I noticed the label 'Fresh Hygienic Beef'. One would hope that everything on sale is, indeed, fresh and hygienic, but from this labelling, perhaps there are times when e.g.' 'not so good' burgers, or 'dodgy' rice crispies are available? :-k

The Thai translates out to "Don't wash your feet in the bathroom". I suspect it's a bathroom located near a mosque.

I suspect the breakdown in communication occurred when, as you were rollin' through town, you shouted out the window, "Where you from darlin," and she thought you said, "Do you find me sexy?'"
