Some folks have a wonderful knack for dealing property off a desperate Thai's hands.
There are some very good deals to be made if you're patient and savvy. I wish I had the right bait at the right time -- and and a willing fish.
Of course the farang spouse (often the shot-caller) must remain in the shadows. You are aware you're not permitted to appear the victor ...

Damn, sounds like prison. ;)

This land to build on is very close to city centre

If you guys would guess.. What was the number I got?
Well the local land office is using 700k as a valuation for land tax purpose per rai on a made up road. So less than this you are getting a bargain. More maybe some one wants a commission down the line . :-"
Tribit, thanks for the info. The number is pretty close to what you mention.. Still seems very expensive though.. Crazy.. I feel petty for the thai locals when they want to buy land

I recently bought 1 rai of land in Cha-Am
Its on a government road but needs to be raised by about 1 metre

3 miles from the sea and about 2 miles to the town centre

The price was 400K

I cant believe the land prices in Udon and the surrounding areas

I am planning on building there in a few years when the kids finish school here in Udon
