OT's kids standards: They all do some kind of work to get extra cash including the youngest one, he is 8 years old helps out his eldest brother at the weekends cleaning cars (on topic) for neighbors to get extra money. If they find a way of earning honest money they will do it without hesitation providing I allow it. I give them what they want within reason but they still, off there own back, like to earn extra cash - I've never asked them to do it. I also make sure they have the best clothing and possessions, I don't like them looking like gypsies like a lot of falangs do with their kids.
It surprises me that three kids, unlike some other people, can understand that 7 baht is hardly worth a second thought as it has so little value. I suppose they could put it in there money boxes if they wanted to, but it would hardly be worth filling out the paying in slip at the bank.

OT......... \:D/
You confirm what I said. As it is ok for you and your children to take 7 baht lying around, where is your limit? If you have one? 100 bht, 500, 10 000? Or you don't have one? You said before that if you take a couple of hundred from a car, it is the car owner's own fault for leaving it there, but what if he left 5000 baht, also ok?

In an attempt to draw a line under what was undoubtedly a 'heads up' from the OP rather than a vendetta (real or imagined) against OT's parenting skills.
Theft is theft, no matter if it is 1 cent or something more.
The sensible thing for the 'operator' of the clean to do in these circumstances is to bag anything (apart from dirt) in a clear plastic bag (an item pretty easily available in Udon :D ) & offer it to the owner when he returns to pick up his vehicle.
In the majority of cases the owner will undoubtedly tell the 'operator' to dispose of the bag (including the coins), but, even if he does not, the probability of repeat business is greatly increased.
Honesty is not always the best policy, but for any business dealing with customers face to face the appearance of honesty is paramount!!!
This may not be the case of an employee of a business who may look short term (this is Thailand  ) to pennies but is actually very important to both employee & employer in the longer term...

JR, Can you show me where OT said such a thing ?
Also, please remember to dismantle your car (if you have one) and find (though I doubt there would be any) any loose baht /satang you may have dropped before putting it in the car wash. It will stop you having a nervous breakdown afterwards.

chock dee.

To put in context: If you earn 20 baht an hour, like some thais, 7 baht a car is a nice 'tip' . Do it a couple of times and you have enough for a meal. But stealing it still is.

Only if it was considerably more than 7 baht and they split it with me...... \:D/

OT's kids are not thieves, how can you suggest such a thing. I thought having a pop at other posters family were off limits ?

Getting back on topic, how many people on this forum would set up a "sting" like wazza did at the car wash. OT would not spend a nanosecond considering a plot like that - it's just laughable. The conversation among the Thai workers at the carwash after wazza made the complaint and left would have been amusing.
Maybe the 7 baht was hoovered up without anyone realising ?

Without wishing to make light of this thread my take on this is pretty simple - theft is theft regardless of the amount (already said on this thread) wether 7 bt , 70 bt , 700 bt , 7000 bt , 700,000 bt or 7 mil bt makes not one jott . I detest theives !! for me they fall in the catagory somewhere between the grease that accumulates around ones anus when riding a bycycle and herpified scab on ones bell end.............so thats a low life then enuff said.

dear oh dear

" see saw hi kwai fun"

To those who got a heads up on a Thai owned car wash service operating under Central that has a systematic thieving of customers belongings by their staff , then i hope it has assisted.

OT said: "7 baht is hardly worth a second thought as it has so little value. I suppose they could put it in there money boxes if they wanted to,"

And I'll go with BobHelm now as OT has clearly stated where he stands on this and it does not bring OP's issue any further.

7 Bhat is nothing for you and me.
For a Thai person that is working and getting payed 100-150 bhat a its more.
So 7 bhat from one car next 4 then so on.
Thai ppl will go fare to save a bhat or two.
Thanks for let normal thinking people know about it. And for you how say ONLY 7 bhat look at your wife/gf and see how fare she will go to save some money.
To get some saving you need to start at 1bhat.
I did Tip staff at car wash at Tesco lotus. and staff gave money strait to manager so he hold them.
For 10bhat a person can eat free. For 50 staff can eat free.

I think we would all agree that if we were shortchanged seven Baht at Tesco, Big C or at the bar we would have something to say about it. Not one of us would let it go by. Thieving is thieving no matter how small or large the amount. So no need to take the piss put of Wazza.

Forget about the thieving part for a minute and tell me, other than putting it in the donation box the other side of the tills at the big c, what you expect to do with your 7 baht. All I can think of is,: buy a small bag of ice or a bubble gum, give it to that old bag who hovers about the crossing near centara, play penny up the wall with the kids until you lose it, give it to a bar girl as a tip and get a smack in the mouth, stick the coins in your ears like the locals do for some unknown reason and that's about it .
Is there anything you can do with 7 baht alone ?

OT...........irritating change.... \:D/

TWO OPTIONS - save these 7 bts until ..... a) you have enuff for one of my grans bread puddings at CC (45bt) OR ......... b) save these 7 bts until you have enuff to slip down the small sois and treat oneself to some Lao pudding (500 bt max) Personally i would go for the bread pud as this does not carry the treat of testicular removal if Dao finds out !!!!!!!!!!!!

No sense in trying to point out "principles" to someone that obviously has none!
