Carport
Carport
I am thinking of having a carport built. 8 by 5 metres, with the back 2 metres enclosed and divided in 2 to form a laundry and garden shed, iron roofing, power and water.
Could anyone give me an idea of cost for this type of thing.
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Carport
Agree with Prenders.
I had an 8m x 5m carport done about 3 years ago - cost was 30,000. With inflation, plus enclosures, power and water, you may get 20k change out of 100k.

Re: Carport
Jackspatt and prendess88 , are we talking about the same. concrete pillars, pitched roof,2 seperate enclosures.
I hope you're right, I wasn't expecting any change from about 250,000 baht

80 - 100k depending on your choice of roof/tiles.

Re: Carport
For mine - 6 concrete posts, timber roofing frame, light corrugated metal roof and gutters, and 6 inch concrete floor with steel mesh reinforcement.
฿30,000, without enclosed rooms, power or water. But I did have family help to do the concreting (delivered via a truck).

Youv'e all just made my day, I'm hoping you're right,if so,I'm 150,000 baht better off.
While on the costing subject, I'm also going to have the property enclosed, its a triangle block, about 50 metres each side,I want 2 sides with solid fence,6' high, and the front with pillars,a 4 metre driveway sliding gate, and a swinging entrance gate. What would you guys think that would cost,I was figuring about 250,000

Now you've mentioned the gate, and a gate that swings, 2 metre high wall, driveway with non slip tiles, it's now climbing to 200,000 plus. Might be all of the figure you had in mind.
Re: Carport
Prenders,I think you've miss understood me,I was thinking 250,000 for just the carport, and another 250,000 for the fencing and gates
Re: Carport
what crazy prices all, 250.000 for a carport?????, many ignorant farang in udon, even 100.000 is crazy, if you have some good local workers to build this one for you,i would say surely not more than 20.000to maybe 30.000 like jackspratt say's, even present day,and even including the small costs of some water pipes and electrics, all building material still cheap,
to compare , we build home for our daughter here 11.5m x 6m , rooftiles, not metal.., tiles everywhere , allu windows etc very nice home , including painting, all finished , including work not yet have 250.000 bath, ??????? so the same lesson is , do not compare prices with prices from your home country butt compare them within thailand....

Re: Carport
My fence:
2x40m wall 2m high
2x40m 2m high wired fence
40m wall+ metal fence front + metal gate.
Cost less than 200K but 190+K

Re: Carport
A quick note: The cost can vary by more than 2:1 as a function of the type and quality of the materials and the workmanship.

I always cringe when I read about someone building a wall/house that should cost xxx, but instead cost xx or even x. A neighbor of a friend of ours in Sribunreuang had a wraparound wall built last year.......today it's a pile of rubble because of shoddy workmanship/materials. Second example, someone in the village is putting up a house......full foundation, tile roof, but for some reason they're using the cheap version of cement block for the walls. Once it's all covered up with cement, no one will be the wiser, but I'd guess there'll be more likelihood of problems with walls cracking in the future.

Re: Carport
I'm also considering building a car port. Six concrete posts, steel roof structure and roofing tiles. Also Sherra facsia board. I've had two quotes so far, one from a big building company (THB300k) and another from a builder guy in the village (THB250k).
I didn't tell either what the other one quoted. It seems VERY expensive to me, hence I haven't gone ahead with either.
I'll be getting some more quotes, but so far I'm not getting anythng near THB100k.

Re: Carport
well wynnsiensheng, as you can read my previous answer on this matter..., only advice i can give you, if you are smart enough and you can count a little bit, make a small plan of the carport , and go check prices of the materials you need,
6 concrete posts..., iron for the roof , tiles , how much concrete for the foundation...etc.....,( go check in global..)
this is my system of handling this..., if i must pay 300k, 250k or even 100k for a carport , i must have completely lost my mind.., but still as you also can read on previous posts, some people pay this crazy price and they think it is normal ,
as long as they are happy , never mind... (money down the drain .........)

Re: Carport
I think it is time to share some info whit people on the forum about coasts fore biuld things in Thailand. It looks like many people pay extremely much for there projects and they have no better quality then others whos pay less. I can also informed about my house in bungalowstyle whit pool, two bedrooms, and two toilets and one whit bathtub, coasts totaly just under 1,3 milj bath. I have also builded out the house whit 2 more guestrooms and toilets and an extra entresdoor, that coast me 120 000 bath more fore 40 m2. The coasts included 3 airconds, one prjectorcinema and two LCDs....all under 1, 4 milj bath. I could have build the house even cheaper but......i was scammed accely and the firsth projektmanager run away whit more than 280 000 bath but.....i am happy anyway.kjellsnell wrote:Tomorrow i put in a picture of a carport which coast me 37 K including all!
Here are some fresch newly builded exampels of small house and....what we can called carpark....ore what ever people like to use them for. The firsth one is accely used as a small shop and it is new. The house is 7x6 meter and is builded whit 8 collums as we dont pot one in the middle. The total coasts for this projekt was just under 120000 bath and that includes everything:
The other roof ore can we say....a simpel modell of a carpark is 8x4 meter and is also removeabel. This one i orderd from a steelcompany in Udon last year. They delivere and maket finish in one day. I use this as a move able roof outside my poolarea. The total coast for this big and very strong roof is 37000 bath including all!
Re: Carport
well , the 2nd home seems ok for his price ( including the concrete foundation) , as it is a metal roof i think, so what are the costs of building , most expensive concrete( foundation) , and metal structure for the roof , all the rest is relatively cheap..., when you put metal roof ,you do not need heavy metal construction as for other roofs, nice small swim, but the carport, this metal shed 37.000bath only roof no concrete, small metal poles, for me to expensive , but i know this product is overrated and overpriced, i do not like it , when heavy rain you are not able to make a descent conversation, to much noise, ( in your case ,as you are sitting there.., for carport boppenyang dog...) i was thinking more carport with concrete piles, roof tiles etc...., but as always ,as long as you are happy...
