Paul,

if you look on their website you will see they offer hot water machine in the room. For me this means a pot to heat up water to prepare coffee, tea or mamanoodles, etc

And for your information: if you want in Udon;Centara hotel also offers coffee and tea makingfacilities in their rooms.
And last year i've been in a hotel in Bkk.Their we got a hot pot and free bags coffee ,tea ,milk and sugar in the room.

so you want more adresses ? :-P

Does anyone know anyone who is residing at AEK Apartments on a long term basis? Or are there any fellow forum members staying there long term? Or at least until August/September?
Please PM me. Thanks.

Yes there's WiFi accessible from the room. You buy the card downstairs at the cashier's. 500 baht a month unlimited usage, or x dollars for y hours. The speed is ok if you don't have high expectations, once a week downtime.

I believe the prices are same same, promotion or not. The manager speaks passable English.

A couple of corrections:

The unlimited card is THB 400, not 500. Buy at hospital cashier, not rental office cashier.
The manager speaks excellent English.
Downtime (router reset) is daily at 0400 and sometimes once more prior to 0430 (server reset, presumably). Downtime lasts about 5 min each time.
Discount available for paying 3 months or more in advance. Available year-round.

Additional info:
Wash, iron, and fold service available across from rental office. THB 600 for 80 pieces. Other plans available. Typically 2 day turn-around.
Cool side is rooms facing hospital, but get used to being spied upon by the patients and their visitors. Opposite side has unobstructed view of rooftops and one can leave drapes open and not worry too much about privacy.
Bathrooms have window louvers which don't close and main room has glass flaps which do not close all the way. Air con is way outdated and cooled air just goes right out the windows unless you tape closed with cardboard. Best buy your own room fan.
Long term rentals pay for own electricity.
THB 7000 and up just aren't worth it compared to the THB 6000 rooms.
Motorbike rental available near garage exit.
Very limited English language TV channels. Other than BBC World, best rely on your own DVDs, podcasts, or other online media.

Folowing my above post and not sure this wil be the right place to post it

I have a problem becaurse my plaine is landing at 15.40 PM on Thursday November 18. And i don,t have mood to stay a night or more, over in BKK.

The train is leaving at 20.00(?) PM and due to trafic in BKK and the quistion iff there would be a place free on the train, i excludes this possibility.

Now i have see on the airport web-site there is a buscompagny operating to Udon with Service from 05.40 – 21.00 PM

No. 825: Suvarnabhumi Airport – Nakhonratchasima – Khonkhaen – Udonthani – Nongkhai

http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/to_f ... bus_en.php

Have someone a idea about the hours this bus is leaving?

Thanks in advance.

Frans.

Not sure of the exact times, but I would imagine every 2-3 hours at least. Figuring backwards from what you posted, that would be 1800 or 1900. Figuring you'd get through immigration, luggage, (hahaha) customs, and take a piss and dump (force it if you have to) in an hour, you'd be officially in the Kingdom about 1700. Worth hanging around inside the airport for sure. Maybe find the airport masseuse or a drink and "endure" the wait if you happen to just miss a bus.

BTW, Joy is awesome. Has a smile like the sunshine and every guy gets smitten if even just a little bit, but she is very professional and an excellent manager.

The 825 bus leaves Swampy (transportation centre) at 21:00 every day, arrives at about 5:30am Udon. I do not think there are any other buses on this particular route as have not been offered any other time; but maybe they run an extra if the bus is full, because they did 2 once on this route (first bus leaving early). The bus is mustard yellow in colour so easy to spot. Return bus leaves Udon at 21:00 also. Not the most luxurious but up to european basic standard, has seatbelts airconditioning free drink and snack; sometimes tv screen and dvds (in thai). Drivers do not speed and drive safely enough. I use it and have no complaints so far.

My flights arrive about 18:30 and i can make this service comfortably; no need to leave airport before 19:00 (free shuttle bus takes you to transportation centre). Never had problem with getting a seat but may be harder if official thai holiday about to start.

Hallo To All.

Maybe this is not the exactly place to ask, but folowing to my above postet message ...

I have read the folowing message:

4
Take a taxi rather to Don Mueang railway station (45-60 minutes, 400 baht). That train stops there at 20:50, and you save yourself having to taxi into the most congested part of central Bangkok and then spend close to an hour on the train coming out of the city again. (All trains heading north and northeast stop at Don Mueang.)

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/t ... ID=1798813

I arive airport Thursday 18 November, 15.40 Pm, so presume i,m outside airport at 17.30 Pm.

Quistion; Would there be a second or first class place available due to your experience?

Anny other usefull information fore me or other readers?

Thanks in advance,

Frans.

...... and (before anyone gets any incorrect ideas and goes there for the wrong reason) got married earlier this year to her long time partner.

Joy used to be at the City Lodge in its original and best incarnation (when Andy was there) and has retained the best of what she learnt.

@Frans
If you're economizing, you'd be better off just taking an overnight bus to Udon. You should be able to make the one leaving out of BKK in the evening. Alternatively, you can make your way to Morchit bus station and get an overnight bus to Udon from there. IMHO, the train is NOT the way you'd want to go. Chuck the LP book if that is where you are getting that idea from. ;)

Hallo Khondahm,

Thanks fore always be so helpful.

The economizing is not filled to the end ;-)

I think I’m able to comfort myself with a taxi fare and a second or first class sleeper.

1Time I have take the night train from Hualampong, And the trip was quit nice, Restaurant wagon where I could smoke, This was in the end of January 2009.

The most urgent reason why I look fore other transportation is, I don’t like to wait 3 to 4 hours in the airport (if not necessary) and then take a night bus fore about 8 hours drive with just 1 stop between, Then arriving in early morning (5AM) have to bargain with taxi drivers :-(

But if no other means off transportation the same day is found, I take the night bus, Because I have give my word to Joy that I arrive on 19 November morning.

Fore the ticket reservation the online ticket reservation is temporally out of working and the e-mail ticket reservation is not so sure ;-)

My mean concern is; would there be a chance fore a free place?

With kind regards,

Frans
