Thanks for the update Dermont. Will see you there,.I hope Paul gets better soon. No better place to get fixed than our home country. I might be back in Udon next week as I'm sick of this snow.

Went yesterday and there are plenty fish in the big pond. Mostly Jeramide, one of the staff pulled in a Jeramide about 9 kilo.
The Planine are a bit small but my friend had his wife with him and one of the staff told her that there were more Planine ordered and they were just waiting for the truck to bring them.
Bait used was mostly bread, fruit, chicken heart and prawn.
The staff has changed in the past 3 month but they are the best crowd I’ve seen there yet. They are very nice and helpful. Food good also.
It was nice to sit back, get my shirt off and think about all the guys back in the UK fighting the snow which I left behind 2 weeks ago.

they also prepare your fish into a nice taste dish after you have caught it.
and if you are wanting a drink just put your hand and wave to them and they will be there in a flash, great place.

Took the family here today for a spot of fishing, and well....what can I say, after coming to Udon for the past 16 years and not really having a bad experience, that all changed today.
When we arrived I noticed that we were the only ones here (maybe should have taken this as an omen).
Where do I start.
The fishing huts are almost in a state of collapse.....nearly lost one kid when a rail gave way.
The hire equipment is in extremely poor condition, and upon pointing this out I was told "no pobplem" so as we were not here for game fishing we gave it a go.
After 3 or 4 fish were landed by others in our party my rod got a rather large strike.....almost immediately the reel disintergrated and said fish got away, the staff who were watching couldn't get to me quick enough.....to charge me for the repair of the reel.
Needless to say, we left.
So......no customers, huts in disrepair, awful hire equipment and scamming staff lead me to think that this crap business is going under, and IMO deservedly so.

I was obviously sad to read this comment and currently cannot comment on the current state of the Hire Equipment as I havent been in town for a while due to Illness. The walls of the the huts are for shade against the sun only, but any defects will be repaired.

This comment seems IMO to be OTT as in your own words you had a big stike (which means there are fish there to be caught, which is what the place is all about) The food I was told last month was still as Good, The hire equipment will be replaced with new equipment if that is whats required.

Finally I Suggest you Try Samman Farm, or even some of the other places that are called fishing Parks but have no fish in them.

hi pong pong
i have been to most fishing farms around udon and agree that yuers is one of the better farms but dissagree with you when you mentioned the comment on saman about not having any fish, i have been there just as much as your farm and have caught alot of big fish there.
only thing beter thing about your place is that the service , and the food is better.
i will still be going to both of your farms in the future.
i would also like to thankyou for keeping all the board members up to date with what is happening.

Dill,

I'm Sorry you picked me up completely wrong, There was a comma between saman Farm and the second part of the sentence. I didnt say and wouldnt say saman Farm doesnt have fish, I too have enjoyed fishing there before. As a very keen fisherman the only difference between saman Farm and ourselves is we have a bigger variety of fish to catch although some are extremely difficult to catch! P and I have talked to her mum who is currently looking after the Park in our enforced absence about this incident and based on that conversation I was merely politely suggesting that this unhappy customer finds another Fishing Park next time they want to go fishing again.

As said Many times before and always will be if theres a problem i can always be e-mailed and usually resolve any issues raised.

Im looking forward to popping up to Sabai Sabai to fish. I would have been there already but my back is in bits and a days fishing certainly wont help it. Hopefully within the next couple weeks. I havnt been there in about 6 months so im looking forward to seeing what differences, if any, i find at the park.

I really loved this place before as ive been to quite a number of places to fish around Thailand and this one was my favourite by far with my particular quarry being Jeramid. While I love to have a nice meal and maybe even a cold one if Im in a particularly good mood, for me its all about the fishing and from the above posts, things dont seem to have changed too much re the fishing.

Paul i wish you a speedy recovery and Im looking forward to seeing you later in the month.

Tight lines everyone

Hi pong pong,
Sorry my freind i must of miss understood it, in return i will shout a cople of beers when i am over your fish farm the next time.
i greatly do agree with you about the variety of fish, you have much more than saman.
i would like to organise a fishing day with some of the BM next time i am in town, maybe some of the members are interested and can let me know, i can even pick them up by car if they like as long as they are not to far out of town.

Went to Sabai Sabai yesterday for a few hours to try out my new fishing gear. Few Points, the food portions have increased since I was last there 6 months ago and the food is better than before. The park is still packed with Jeramid, which was what i was after and I caught 5 with the biggest one around 8.5 Kilos. Park was almost full with a mix of thais and farangs. One thai group in particular were sculling fish all day, mostly planin but got a huge fish that looked something like a carp, was scaled with grey scales, Id love to know what type of fish this was. The rails in the huts are for Rod rests only and shouldnt under any circumstances be leant against as this is not their purpose, unless of course your not opposed to a dip, lol. Met wee Jimmy and had a great chat although he wasnt having much look on the fishing front......Next time Jimmy!

Dermont, after you left I got 8 Planine which were all a good size and which all went home with me. I'm not interested in Jeramid as I've been told from a few people they are not good eating. However, unlike you I fish for the table as well as the sport. It was a great day and one of the busiest I've seen for a while. We shall arrange another outing which we talked about soon.

Excellent Jimmy, Im just off down to AEK for my PT. Hopefully next week Ill be right as rain. Talk to you then.

P.S. Delighted you got the planine. Makes the day worthwhile, although as my old man used to tell me as a kid, if everytime you went out you caught fish, it wouldnt be called fishing, it would be called catching! I think in Thailand though you expect to catch.....See you next week.
