Udon Thani Immigration Office
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Just got confirmation that tomorrow ( 28th.) is the last day at the airport office
They plan to open at the new office at the police station on the 29th. at 08.30 am.
The official opening is planned for later as and when the chief of immigration decides.
Things don,t always go to plan on start up and there is probably going to be a bit of confusion ( hickups ) in the beginning, so this seems a sensible judgement IMHO
marshbags
P.S.
I must look as poor as am, I wasn,t asked to make a donation.... :-"

The least of which will be trying to find the correct rubber stamps which will, no doubt, just be thrown into a single big box for the move.marshbags wrote:Things don,t always go to plan on start up and there is probably going to be a bit of confusion ( hickups ) in the beginning

HA ha! Yes ! Last time I was there I see they splashed out on a holder stand for the stamps.Bandung_Dero wrote:The least of which will be trying to find the correct rubber stamps which will, no doubt, just be thrown into a single big box for the move.marshbags wrote:Things don,t always go to plan on start up and there is probably going to be a bit of confusion ( hickups ) in the beginning

went to the office yesterday but closed. by chance i saw to the right of the main entrance and allmost at ground level a sign, remove your shoes please. you might think they do not want you to see it.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Entering a temple, or person's home I fully understand. Entering a govt office absolute nonsense. I walked in with my shoes on to speak with one of the officers.

It could be a "health & safety" issue rather than a religious one. Frightened of getting a kick from a dissatisfied customer. .fdimike wrote:Entering a temple, or person's home I fully understand. Give em a break, new building, sure they want to keep in clean. The novelty will wear off in time.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Give em a break for what? I guess sweeping the floor at the end of the day is beneath them. They are walking around with shoes on themselves. This is not like going into a palace or a temple. Do you have to remove your shoes to go into any other government office? I think not.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Some of the visa applicants I have seen in there have feet dirtier than my shoes.

went today for 90 day report, first negotiate the shoes and sandals infront of door, nowhere to fill in forms unless you sit at 90 day report table , staff wearing shoes, .i think the ramp that goes upto the doors is for wheelchairs.

Are you expected to remove your shoes if you are in a wheelchair?hey you wrote:went today for 90 day report, first negotiate the shoes and sandals infront of door, nowhere to fill in forms unless you sit at 90 day report table , staff wearing shoes, .i think the ramp that goes upto the doors is for wheelchairs.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
I have never been to an establishement where the occupants wear shoes, and make visitors take off shoes.
Just another hoop to go through! I suppose it makes them feel superior?
In their dreams!

Well if I've got to remove my footwear so as not to give em 'the hump' and get smoother more efficient service so be it. As I said earlier the novelty will wear off in time.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Just went to renew My Visa.
on entering, given a application form.
Before I could finish filling it out , I am asked to proceed !
But worse was firstly. My Photo's no big enough. and MUST HAVE TWO PICTURES IN THE BEDROOM!
Whats up with these people?
I checked internet, and nowhere says Picture of sitting on the bed?
Only PIcs "Inside house and out"
(Which I had) Apparently The living room forbidden!
Then "Witness" Must live near bye!
So my application FAILED!
So I went home with my tail between my legs.
They just love it dont they!

I believe Bandung Dero was also going in today to do his first extension, based on marriage.
Looking forward to his report.

Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
talking to a chap a few moths ago and he was getting ready to apply for the 90 day report, he had been advised to take photos of his clothes hanging in wardrobe and in draws, how they knew they were his clothes only they know. this situation is where the yellow house book saves alot of trouble.

Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
the experience is usually a bit different for everyone. those of us who have gone through it know that to be the case. last time i went i had a nice neat map from google earth, typed names and addresses on the print out and all the bells and whistles. they didn't want that. they demanded that it be hand drawn and labeled. that took another 15 minutes of time at the desk. produced 2 photos inside the house and one family photo outside the house by the gate and address. the two photos inside was one in the living room and one in the bedroom. no issues with the photos. this was all just three months ago. my witness lives in another town. that was acceptable too.pompui wrote:No mention if shoes off or not in your post Seriously though I was never asked for a bedroom photo or even 2,the living room forbidden, whats next the map of where you live has to be from google earth? and to hey you YES the yellow book saves lots of time and worry in most government and financial transactions. even if not required when they see it they know they are dealing with a resident. even if i think it might be helpful i bring it along.
Re: Udon Thani Immigration Office
Ive been on the same visa for approx 6 years now - non imm cat o depenancy 1 year , renew every September , the last time was asked for photos of my son an i outside the shop , his bedroom and a school photo along with his report card , however immo didnt seem to bothered about the main paperwork IMO that being my legal docs for custody , i found it much easier to renew up here in Udon than my past experiences in Nong Khai , Pattaya and Bangkok .
To date I have found the Udon immo office to be quite good really especially when i take a pack of digestive bisuits with me .
Mash ........ my sensible side but not for long
