Forum Relationships.
Just recently I have been rather saddened by two forum members that I have crossed swords with on here apparently going out of their way to avoid contact with me when I've been in the shopping centre . I am not imagining it, even my wife commented on it.Now for me the Forum is not real life, its our fantasy world where we can all give vent to our emotions whether they be frivolous , serious or downright anger. venting as some call it.It is our playground. What I post on here is not personal to anyone and I'm sure most members feel like that. When I'm out in a bar or whereever you may see me
I am still Val the nice guy, as my wife calls me, and she should know, not the person who expressed a view different to yours in our fantasy world. So can I make a plea, lighten up, there aren't that many of us in Udon and its always nice to chat in the real world as opposed to typing away in the lonely confines of your computer room.

Why "AT TIMES" I'm pompous all the time on here, but outside never.john2005 wrote:Very strange, are you saying all the thoughts you have expressed on here are not what you really think?Do you have a seperate posting personality, one on the forum and one in real life?If you want more friends i suggest you change your posting style as you can appear to be rather pompous at times.
I don't need more friends , I have many anyway both Thai and farang and your reply is a perfect illustration of the point I was making. didn't you realise that?
The beauty of an internet forum is that you can express your true feelings without recourse, but you choose to do the opposite.I would think 99 per cent on a location based website tell it how it is not live in an imaginary world where all the opinions are false. It's not a dating site where lies are common.Maybe i am wrong.
Rather than tell others to lighten up,i suggest you look closer to home as the two farang know the true "real world" person and yet choose to avoid you.

Whose to say whether my postings reflect my true feelings or not, certainly not you. I choose to adopt a persona on the forum that appears pompous, others adopt the clown, some the complete idiot image, don't be fooled, I am not pompous as , I'm sure the others are not idiots or clowns. You really must learn not to believe what , at first sight appears the obvious, when it is quite possibly something totally different.Stay around , you will learn.john2005 wrote:The beauty of an internet forum is that you can express your true feelings without recourse, but you choose to do the opposite.I would think 99 per cent on a location based website tell it how it is not live in an imaginary world where all the opinions are false. It's not a dating site where lies are common.Maybe i am wrong.

That's right never judge a book by it's cover, weather it be here on the net, we choose to act differently when in personal contact with the real world
Val sounds like and Old fa.. but I never the guy, so I never get steamed up when the forum members chew my but out over a bad post.
Forum words should not infulence out views, as to what a person if truely like, till you get to know them in personal life.
To many get the cheese up their nose and out of joint over words spoken.
These are my views

everyone on here has there own character and there are some good caracters on here alsoDoh.If you choose a horrid persona then you can hardly complain if people choose to avoid you on the off chance that even a small part of it might be applicable to the real you.
i don't think there is anyone on here at the moment with a horrid persona/character. thats my opinion.
and i am struggling to think of who the idiots and clowns are.... .well i have an faint idea. lol ..each to their own, thats what makes it a great forum.
Can You Dig It Dug.?
hey i resemble that. actually i met Val, but avoided his ass today at the mall, what a pompous arse. hey, did i spell that right, queen's english.
off the meds and back to reality, yikes. hmm, is that one my matrix personalities. oh well, point is, i quess there isn't any. this would be the idiot babbling in an attempt to be a clown. not even drunk. really, i love Val, i paint my toes for him. hmm, have i crossed the line yet.
GET OVER IT, IT'S A FORUM.
many people, including myself sometimes will express themselves differently on an annonymous forum. in a chat room talkin to chickies, would you say the same thing to a person in a restaurant or bar. doubtful, the forum removes a lot of insecurities in people's character. me, i have no insecurities, i find it easy to offend in print or person. always had that problem of saying what i think, no matter. got me in a lot of ----. and many shake there head at me. that's why i can probably count on one hand true friends i have living in home country. thanks to my anoying openess, i can now use the other hand and count a couple more friends in udon via this forum.
remember, a true friend is someone who really knows you..........................and is still your friend.
keep posting val, love your posts, even the ones i disagree with or completely don't understand. but went it comes to intelligent information and advise, i know who to ask. i hope by asking what date, dah, the next meeting is, you are showing up. hey, if you come, maybe the a-holes that dodged you today won't, hopefully.

Interesting topic Val! I never thought about the fact the some on this forum might have a different persona in person!I think that ,at times,I might be more conversive about a particular topic and even more confrontational on the forum versus in person.Never been much for fantasy,so I am pretty much the same personality,in person and on the forum.Maybe that is why I am not concerned about my personal anonymity.
I do admit that perceived personal insults, whether on the forum or in person, upset me.In person, depending on the situation,I will choose to ignore the person and leave the area.Sometimes, when I am more immature in my reactions,I have been known to warn the perpetrator a couple of times and follow up with the action predicted if the insults continued. Not that I am proud of that and at my age,it is even more foolish!
On the forum,I find that I put more thought into to my conversations.Probably because I am such a lousy typist!I don't feel the rush of anger against perceived insults.I have sent a couple of PM's for clarification and I always have had positive replys.I like pro and con discussions very much as it stimulates me in a way that is lacking around Thais and perpetual bar persons.
I consider myself a very goodhearted and a reasonably nice guy!I am opinionated and not overly diplomatic as I like to tell ''my''truths and prefer the same from others.I also have to admit to being a little to serious of a personality.I have never spent time around non American falangs,so I have felt some '' stings'' from their jabbing puns and jokes.I am getting better,as One of my Aussie aquaintances has counseled me ''to lighten up''!
I feel like we have''crossed swords'' a little.I would never avoid you for that reason. As a matter of fact,I have been disappointed to have not met you at the 2 venues I attended, last months forum meeting and the more recent ''Downunder'' opening. As I truly enjoy ''most'' of you posts,I look forward to meeting you in person

Val, all I can say is that a 'forum' IS real life but in an offline world, (to a degree ), it is a real situation that is created for amusement or bemusement, whatever the case may be...
Anyhows, if some prefer to ignore you for reasons best known to themselves then let them get on with it, it's their loss imho.
At the end of the day if it bothers you that much tell em where to go, now that's the proper way to clear the air, in REAL LIFE I hasten to add...

Excuse me if I'm wrong but weren't you the person whose first two postings were moderated as being inflamortory and still holds the dubious distinction of being the only person in the history of this forum, to have their signature deleted for the same reason. What was that you were sayingwickder wrote:Doh.If you choose a horrid persona then you can hardly complain if people choose to avoid you on the off chance that even a small part of it might be applicable to the real you.
