Where to stay?
Where to stay?
Hi guys
This is my first post on the forum. I am planning on going to Udon for the first time in a few month for 3/4 days. I have been to most other parts of Thailand.
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay? Preferably near the nightlife and that is guest friendly?
Thanks

Re: Where to stay?
I think you are going to have to 'give' a bit more information if you expect any sensible replies to a question like this...
What sort of standard do you want?
Are there any definite 'pluses' you want or 'negatives' you want to avoid.
What sort of price range are you looking for?
As far as 'guest friendly' I have never heard of any hotel in Udon making an issue of that, although I do understand that one place is now charging for guests going to its customers' rooms as it had to engage extra 'security' staff to enable this safely.

In my opinion (which is worth may 2 cents) you cannot beat the City Lodge for price comfort, good food and friendly hosts.
Room rates are 500 -700 Baht/night with large comfotacle rooms. As for food I think most will agree that few if any in Udon cook better than Andy.

Re: Where to stay?
Top Mansion, RuySuk Hotel or Karin Hotel you can have good rooms for 360-420 baht only, all on a walking
distance from Central Plaza.

Re: Where to stay?
If I was staying for only 2 days I'd spend the money and stay at the Udon Star. 850 baht a night worth every baht! Nicest rooms in Udon. The rooms are huge! 1st class great staff. And a good breastfast in the morning.

Thanks guys, very useful feedback

Do they have a pool and where are they located on the map?randerson79 wrote:If I was staying for only 2 days I'd spend the money and stay at the Udon Star. 850 baht a night worth every baht! Nicest rooms in Udon. The rooms are huge! 1st class great staff. And a good breastfast in the morning.
Re: Where to stay?
Udon Star on Watanan Road, opposite the Sampantamit Road. So central. About the same quality as Irish Clock or City Lodge - with about as many rooms - no pool..
Frankly if I wanted to stay that close to town centre I would save myself 500 baht a night & stay in the Top Mansion.
All that area is subject to noise & dust at the moment because of the redevelopments.
For about the 1,000 for central Charoen is a good bet as any & has the huge advantage of Yellow Bird as part of it.
If want luxury then really only the President & Prajaktra are in that market. Although it is a tuk tuk rather than a walk to the 'hot spots'. Either are probably well worth the extra for only 4 days....but, as I said before, we are flying on minimum data here..

Re: Where to stay?
Bob Udon Star is not even close to the same as the Irish clock or City Lodge! The rooms are twice the size and decorated ALOT nicer. It is a great place to relax for a few days. Just my opinion.
Re: Where to stay?
I find it hard to believe the rooms are twice the size of the Irish Clock randerson! In fact Id say this is an impossibility! Have you been in the Irish clock rooms?

Re: Where to stay?
Been a few years back, but yes I have. Have you been in the rooms in Udon Star? Their suite is bigger than my old house! And you missed my disclaimer at the end "Just my opinion".
But anyway don't want to start ANOTHER pissing match. Just saying if I was staying a few days in Udon I would stay at Udon Star. Great big clean rooms. Great service. Nice bath robes and big fluffy towels. All around nice place!
