Air Asia payment by credit card

Post by Ray.Charles » February 15, 2011, 1:55 pm

My credit card's billing address is in the U.S. After reserving my flight, when I need to fill-in credit card information with my U.S address, the pull-down menu for the States doesn't work. I tried by filling in the field as N/A, but with the correct postal code in the next field. I got an error message..tried three times. Any advice?

I had the same problem once, and I'm not sure I can remember the remedy. It seems that on the address one clicks on "other" or "international" for the country address box.

Not sure if we are talking about the exact same problem, but whenever I try to pay the flight by credit card the process stops early at one point, still on their site. I usually use Firefox. Air Asias website seems buggy and does not work fully with Firefox. For about a year now, seems they don't care (surprise surprise). Ue IE and the process works, although some entries are now so small that they seem nearly unreadable...

It is not a Firefox issue, as I am able to pay via the website, using my Oz credit card (and address).

The issue seems to be with the website.

I have just booked Air Asia (FireFox no worries) and for the life of me could not remember what my billing address was (all my statements have been sent electronically for years) just put down my daughters new address and it went through. So, question! Does it really matter what address you tell them?

Bandung, I would say that if the inputted billing address doesn't line up with the address of record on the credit card company's file, then the charge could be denied. It may have gone through on the website, but the filters they use to detect online fraud will probably pick it up and deny the charge. You may get an email from the credit card company that your card is suspected of having been used fradulently. Happened to me before! I would give it a few days then log on to your credit card account online and see if the charge is there, or if has been charged back.

I agree with the above post. You must give the correct billing address; you may well find your credit card is cancelled by your bank.
There are some problems with the Air Asia website.

Well I've just had a look, that purchase was on the 11th Feb and in tact as well as subsequent ticket purchases from other airlines.

I will add I have to use a security 'Token' to generate a numbered code which I have to enter during 'on line' credit card transactions. Great security feature as the credit card is virtually useless without it.

I think that was invented 20 years ago, although some people still find it confusing. As for the billing adress, put down 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20500, that should do the trick.

Thanks for many suggestions trying to solve my problem. Nothing worked.
I too ‘receive’ my bill by the internet for many years; the physical address is important as a security check. If you put down the country that issued the credit card as the U.S, the pull down menu for the states does not work. I called up the credit card company and changed my address to my address in Thailand. Tried again, no luck.
It is the AirAsia website that sucks. Went to the travel agent at the complex to book, the cost would have been 30% higher. Didn’t buy. Will try to contact the Air aAia’s call cnter tomorrow. Will keep you posted

I had problems using a credit card from UK. I ended up phoning Air Asia's office in London where all was sorted out in a matter of minutes with no extra charge.

Air Asia payment by credit card

Post by Ray.Charles » April 6, 2011, 10:52 am

My credit card (VISA) issued by the (JPMorgan) Chase Bank in the U.S. gets approved for payment for Air Asia tickets at the ticket agencies and at the Air Asia counter at the airport, but is declined at the Air Asia website. But buying the ticket for the same flight from the airport ticket booth or the call center is significantly higher than the price shown on the website. Solution or comments please.

If you have a Kasikorn bank account you can enable a virtual credit card and use that to pay for the tickets. I haven't used mine for this purpose but I have heard it works without problems. BTW, I've had the same problem with my US cc on Air Asia's website.

I just type the abbreviation for the state next to the name of the city, separated by a comma.

Such as "San Jose, CA" Never had a problem.

The problem could be that most USA banks are completely paranoid about fraud and the minute you leave the US and use the credit card they assume it must be a dodgy transaction.Best to inform your bank that you are leaving the country and will be using credit card abroad.

Air Asia payment by credit card

Post by Ray.Charles » April 8, 2011, 10:48 pm

Never had any problem in using my (JPMorgan) Chase (United) VISA credit card to buy AIRAsia ticket at their counters at airports, or at travel agents. But never could buy it online from their website. Unfortunately, the price for the same journey at the places where I could book and pay with my card, and at their call center, is always significantly higher than the price displayed on their website.

The website sucks in more ways than one, but buying a ticket with a U.S. credit card is impossible. When you select the U.S. as the country that issued the card, the pull down menu for the States does not work. If you select N/A and try anyways, the card is declined. Then I thought that the U.S. billing address for the credit card and a Thailand address on my ticketing and membership record might also be causing a security problem resulting in my credit being declined. So, I changed the billing address for the credit card to my Thailand address; I receive no physical bill anyways, but thought I try. Still no pull down menu for the States. Given that the “State’ is not really significant as compared to the street address and the town, I think that the Air Asia does not want the U.S. credit cards for online purchase or website is screwed up.

Learning from one of the posts I used the debit card from the same bank; it worked. This was a small purchase, so I did not lose too many United points in not being able to use my United VISA from Chase.

By the way, last year I had the same problem with EVA AIR. Couldn’t buy online my return ticket to U.S. with my card, had to go to an agent. I did it to get the points because the difference in cost was not much, and got the United points.

OK, next time, I would try this from rick farang:
"just type the abbreviation for the state next to the name of the city, separated by a comma.

I have booked flights for my gf in Thailand with my Canadian visa card several times, no problem but your address must match your credit card billing address.
