It was for nothing much however after giving up my shoes, belt, money, phone, and condoms, I did have to spend the night in the Central police station cell together with 60 other crazy prisoners. I was the only white man. I found a place in the corner of the filthy concrete dungeon to get a bit of sleep and just as I'm dropping off to sleep, about 2 or 3 am I got bond, paid for by a WFB and released. I was thinking that was a bit inconsiderate, she should have sorted it out a bit earlier or a bit later when I'd woken up, anyway, I had to report to the police every day at 9 am until my case came before the magistrate. In court I got a choice of a 200,000UGX fine (about 2,500baht) or 6 months in prison. I took my time as to which punishment to take just to infuriate the magistrate. Just before she (the magistrate) exploded I told her I would pay the fine. That prank cost me a whole day in the court jail.

It's all true, I was thinking that it would be slightly unbelievable in the world of the people that get up in the morning eat, and then go to bed at night with not much happening in between.
There's a lot more that happened during that encounter with the Uganadan Police Force. AK47's and police motorcycle escorts come to mind.

English, well in fact Cockney terminology would be amused at anyone calling themselves JR, as it assumes J Arthur, If you wiki that and can work it out you will probably change your name without hesitation, in the meantime...JR.

It is simply because they are my initials. If you chose to ridicule someone because of their name, it just shows the level you vegetate on. I am sure you can search and find connections with Oldtimer that will fit your person.

Let's move on here, I was thinking about the image portrayed by many about Americans. Well, as for them being overweight, big mouthed and as thick as ---- is untrue. All my American friends here are, albeit massive, but not overweight, strong, reserved in what they say and very intelligent. They, Americans, are now starting to believe that they do not rule the world, although they would have a good chance if it came to it.
Jerry Springer doesn't do Americans any favours?

Quite right Mr Helm. He was born at Highgate tube station when Adholf Hitler was bombing London. He could be considered as Jewish considering his parents were. He finds the worst Americans and ridicules them on worldwide TV.

They rather do that themselves without much assistance from him...

However Jeremy Kyle has managed to get the 'special relationship' back on track by proving that although it has a fifth of the population to the USA the UK also has enough mentally impaired inhabitants to keep a daily show filled...

OT was thinking about buying a BBQ thing yesterday. Now, I didn't buy one (BBQ), I removed half the porch colomn bricks, formed a circle with the said materials, stuck a sack full of charcoal in the newly invented bbq, put a grill over the top and had a nice little bbq with the WFB. I did manage to pass out after a dozen hot dogs, 2.5 kilo of chicken, half a kilo of liver on sticks, an ice cream, a wagon wheel, and two or three bottles of Australian Shiraz.
All's well that ends well.

I had the 'pleasure' of waiting 30 minutes at the kilo 5/Loei Highway traffic light for an approaching caravan. That got me to thinking. There were 8 police cars involved in the caravan. Lining the road from before Maliwan to Nongwahsaw, and including the police in the caravan, there were conservatively 70 police men on duty to assure clear roads for the caravan. So I was thinking, if I was a politician, how would I use all that money set aside for caravans to help the country's people. Houses for the poor, support to drought-stricken farmers, hell, the country could buy a couple of used subs for all that money! Anyway, that's what I was thinking while I was stuck at the police checkpoint.
The second thing I was thinking was: why doesn't the guy next to me on a motorcycle turn off his engine? He was parked next to me the entire 30 minutes with his engine on. I guess he wanted to get a jump start when the police opened the roads back up. The only reason I could think someone would do such a thing was: he's borrowing his buddy's/parents' motorcycle.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't have a book to read.

I have thought about these road blocking exercises - having been subjected to them on numerous occasions.

Given the lack of seniority of the beneficiaries, it would seem the reason is not security. Rather, I think it is meant as a constant reminder and reinforcement to the plebs about who are the boss(es), and who must bow down and wait. [-(

If it is security one must question . Why the need for such an operation for someone so well loved .?Who are they protecting them from ?

I was wondering about a wonderfull excelent good recommended place where admirers,
some members of a certain club, did look over the Tower bridge and according to an
electrician the 'ONE owner' wants to concur udon with great plans if the admirers now
know if the same 'one owner' is still there and if the admirers still frequent there.
Time goes fast again indeed.

Here's something we should all think about. When you have a post deleted or get a reminder from the mods to keep on subject or you get annoyed when a topic gets locked before you have the last say, you should not launch your PC through the un-opened glass patio doors in anger. What you should realise is the chastising by the moderators opens the forum up to new topics and further conversation among members.
If you happen to get a post deleted, you shouldn't rant, you should re-word it to appease the mods as well as provoke the response you were looking for from the poster you've engaged in battle. Actually it is rarely the case that in a hot headed debate you'll get the response you are looking for. However if you say something like "I like beer leo" or " It's cold today" it is quite likely someone will agree, so that sort obvious crap is hardly worth a mention. Most people can tell the difference between hot weather and cold weather, and nice beer and not very nice beer.
If you're reminded by the mods to stay on track, you have two choices, one is keep on topic, the other is start a new thread which will then get another conversation going. Sometimes this ends up with the same two jerk banging heads on two threads rather than one.
If a Topic get's locked before you've finished with it, don't start another thread complaining about it because that guarantees that everyone on the forum thinks your a --------.

OT was standing outside the bank today looking at the forex rates. Not because I was interested in the exchange rates. I've been trying to decide where to get away to for easter and thought that the places mentioned on the forex board would be unbiased compared to a travel agent or airline suggestion.
Based on looking at the forex board today I've got a place to go for easter in mind already. So, next time you need to take a holiday and can't think of a place to go, take a look at a the forex board - there's normaly a dozen suggestions.

OT spent threequaters of an hour today looking for a dog that disappeared when I decided to take for a run. It's a dog i'm looking after for for someone else. I gave up in the end and walked back to my place only to find the barstard animal licking it's paws outside the garage door as if nothing had happened. It got a well earnt kick up the backside and some language I doubt it understood. Made me think, dog owners think they are lovely creatures, non dog owners think they are nothing more than a pain up the @rse. Doubt if I'll get one.

OT was strolling back from the pub today after watching the GP and two things happened . My place is out in the countryside and takes 40 minutes walk from the pub - the first thing was I saw a group of about four adults and as many youngsters in front of me that I would, at some time or other overtake. On the way past I could see they were not English and asked the eldest guy if he could speak English. He pointed towards one of the group who could speak English. The three and a half year old told me that they were Lebenese ?
A bit further on I noticed a van with "HD" advert in big letters on the back. I googled it on my phone and found out, generally speaking it means high definition. Not the best way to put out a product in OT's opinion. There are better ways of getting high than looking at a 54 inch plasma screen.
