The article in the BKK post reports these subs to be "dated" ...... how dated is anyones guess NO OUTSIDE TOILETS is a good start , still its a massive amount of cash to splash and the most scary thing is a Thai is gonna drive it !!!!!!!

I regret any loss of life, but self-deploying artificial reefs or future diving attractions come to mind...

A Thai news source reports that these 2 submarines can only be used for 6 or 7 years, not a very long life span for a sub.

They'll be lucky to have them last that long. You know how well Thai's maintain their vehicles. Just checked the oil level on a used car I was looking at. The stick was completely dry.

Why do you remain in Thailand? Everything Thai is so bad maybe it is time for you to leave Udon and go back to your girlie haunts in Patters or better still the UK.

Tomboy ,,,, i remain in Thailand as i have lived here the best part of 14 years i cal it home , the weather is great the food is spot on and its inexpensive here , i have a lovely son , decent business / living and the missus is not too bad either ......... HOWEVER if i choose to disagree with the way the Thai government waste the countries coffers on stuff like this instead of helping the rural areas and people in real need then thats my business and nowt to do with you ... yes or no ?

I remember the Fire engines , aircraft carrier , second hand fighter jets all were white elephants in a short period of time ....... now submarines and they will go the same way .

You're not expected to have an opinion here, 10, 20, 30 years here don't make any difference mate. We are just "Farang" trash. Outsiders looking in.

I had forgot about them Stoneman , an odscene amount of tax payers / government money frittered away - these purchases usually have a corupt official or two lurking in the shadows ..... this does rile me as i am a Thai tax payer with both a personal and a company tax card albeit paying a lot less here than in old blighty ................ im sure for the British tax paing masses its worse as they have the benefits system and national health to fund along with all these asylum seekers and freeloaders who are still flooding into Britain ,,,

mASH ....... ORDER ORDER in the house , i refer the right honourable gentlman to my previous reply
