How true is this - Taxes.

How true is this.
Scary At first I thought this was funny....Then I realised the awful truth of it.
Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table At which he's fed.
Tax his work, Tax his pay, He works for peanuts Anyway!
Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants, Tax his coat.
Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink, Tax him if he Tries to think.
Tax his car, Tax his fuel, Find other ways To tax the fool.
Tax all he has Then let him know That you won't be done Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers; Then tax him some more, Tax him till He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin, Tax his grave, Tax the sod in Which he's laid.
When he's gone, Do not relax, It’s time to apply The inheritance tax.

Accounts Receivable Tax
Airline surcharge tax
Airline Fuel Tax
Airport Maintenance Tax
Building Permit Tax
Cigarette Tax
Corporate Income Tax
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Death Tax
Driving Permit Tax
Environmental Tax (Fee)
Excise Taxes
Income Tax
Fishing License Tax
Food License Tax
Petrol Tax (too much per litre)
Gross Receipts Tax
Health Tax
Inheritance Tax
Interest Tax
Liquor Tax
Luxury Taxes
Marriage License Tax
Medicare Tax

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world.. We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class, and Mum stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the "Hell" happened? Can you spell ’ lying parasite politicians wasting our money’ ?
And then, there are the bank charges !
I hope this goes around the UK at least 1000 times !!!
YOU can help it get there!!!!

Well far be it for me to defend any Government Jimmy, but the above tale is not exactly the truth either.

Taxation has been a fact of life in England for well over a 1,000 years now (& a 1,000 years before that if you see Roman & Scandinavian removal of resources as taxation) - the name on the tin might change, but the aim & the result are the same.
At least the Church is not permitted to take its' tenth (tithe) of income now..
From window tax, poll tax, Morton's Fork, Excise men in tales of yore against coastal smugglers. Illegal immigrants in the shape of Huguenots & others too numerous to mention...This is nothing new. However neither will politicians solve the issue - most are far too interested in personal gain than problem solution.

Britain gained its' economic prowess via theft from other nations - no matter how it is painted otherwise. That had to end finally as other woke up to it. The country has scant economic resources of its' own, hence the decline.

Too many people and too few opportunities for employment that increase wealth, rather than consume it. That is what leads to decline...

I remember reading about Window tax - (back in the Robin Hood era) - that's why many people bricked up windows. Yes they had tax avoidance schemes back in those days too. :-"

Remember Wee Jimmy, you can't have it both ways. Someone has to pay for your free prescriptions, ;) not to mention the Doctor's time attending to you, the schools, the libraries, the roads, the street lights, the emergency services etc etc.

A quote attributed to Margaret Thatcher goes along the lines of
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money [to spend]."
The tax payer is "the other people".
Bush and now Obama should have taken note of this observation.

Just a quick thought about Tax ......... They keep increasing the Tax on Cigarettes so we can't afford to smoke, They keep increasing the Tax on Beer/Wine/Spirits so we can't afford to get drunk. They keep increasing the Tax on petrol/cars so as we can't afford to drive anywhere ............. WHY THE HELL DON"T THEY INCREASE THE TAX ON GUNS AND BULLETS TO A LEVEL WHERE NOBODY CAN AFFORD TO USE THEM? ....... oh yeah, I forgot, they probably want us to commit suicide!

A brutally honest historical assessment Bob - I would probably have delicately tiptoed round it by using "exploitation of" rather than "theft from", but effectively it amounts to the same thing :(

.... as an aside the list in the OP (which appears to be a copy of a US chain e-mail that has not been fully modified for UK tax terminology) failed to mention two taxes that have become increasingly prevalent :-k
  • 1. Tax avoidance

    2. Tax evasion
Note 1: The increasing use of these two taxes over the years has resulted in adding to the burden of those not in a postion to take advantage of them ](*,) :fryingpan:

Note 2: Tax avoidance is legal while tax evasion is not.

Value Added Tax ......... manufacturer pays Tax on raw materials and then charges this to wholesaler.
Wholesaler pays manufacturer his costs inc his tax and then charges retailer an added amount to cover his tax liability.
Retailer pays wholesalers cost plus his tax and then passes this on to consumer (+ approx 17%)
Consumer has now paid sh**loads of tax and has to buy the item with money he has earned (which has already been taxed at sourse)

Forgot the biggest tax of all. The hidden tax of currency devaluation under the fractional reserve fiat money private central banking model.
