Far be it for me to defend TB - he is quite capable of doing that on his own...

However if no disrespect was intended in your post then maybe you can carefully explain exactly what WAS intended.

No matter how I read your post I cannot see that it is anything but a personal attack on TB.

Adding a piece of nonsense to the end of your post does not mean that you are exempt from the rules of the Forum.
Desist in making personal attacks on other members or your posts will just be delete without comment.

Yes you’re right... I was just responding to what I thought was a attack on me... let me apologize to Trubrit..." sorry TB" and say no personal attack was intend... I will now moderate my posts so no further infringement of the rules occurs…
Never mind , still say hello if you see me. I might even give you a sip .

Now now don’t get all aggressive... I was referring to you using my post as a quote as if you were reply to it... anyways I do intend to be a man as you say... I intend to introduce myself. I know you like UD town on an evening... and thanks to your post upon the Meakon I now know what you look like... that and your leaky bladder… I just need to look around for a old man sitting in a pool of piss clutching his whiskey bottle box as if it was made of gold...

Hi,
Quote from dermotc. "The sock and sandel brigade give us all a bad name". You must be joking.
I was out to diner with some Thais the other night, open air place. I always wear socks and sandels, when i go out at night, for the reason that the Thais themself found out. The Mossies bite the hell out of my feet if i don't. The Thais were all bit by them on the ankles and feet. They said at least i had some common sense wearing socks, and they will next time. Yes there was the usual burning coil under the table, made no differance. Even the repellent i put on my feet does not help.
When you get back to your throne up high and survey all you have made. Then you can tell people what they should wear.
Until then , as you are not one of the top fashion people in this world, may i suggest you do not run down what people wear.
The people that give us all a bad name are the ones that think they are God, and try to tell people, including Thais, what to do and wear in LOS. As long as people are clean, whatever they wear does not concern me.
I got out of the British Isles to get away from this self rightious approach. Seems like it has followed me here. Most of the people i have met like this seem to be British. Don't get me wrong i have met some very good British people. It seems a lot of them miss the old col. days and try to act like they are still here and tend to talk down to the locals. This is what gives us all a bad name. THINK, it is their country, and after the mess the Brits. have made of their own country, they should not be giving advise to other countries.
Doug.

Your quite right Grozza, 76 to be precise, but like the scotch I drink, have matured quite well, nicely mellowed .
As to the fisticuffs, well, I leave that to the wife or her friends .

Believe it or not Jack. That was in Mare Yar Thai restaurant and originally they gave me a half pint glass thinking I would put ice and soda in it. When I asked for something smaller, that's all they had. Glad to report my usual self discipline was maintained and I only had six glasses .

I know the last few posts seem off topic but to me its not. This is typical of the Farang resident in Udon. A very mixed bunch with many points of view and as many ways of saying them .But always , regardless of nationality, an awareness that we all have one thing in common , a love for Udon, its people and gratitude to them for letting us share it .
Now the Farang casual visitors, that's another story . :-"

Ok Douglas, let me clear a few things up for you. My response was tongue in cheek but also I was making a point. Wearing socks and sandals is rediculous as it totally negates the reason for wearing sandals, which is to let your feet breathe and be cool. I dont know what brand of mosquito repellent you are using but I use it and Ive never been bitten while I have it on.
The other point is Im not from Britain, the British Isles, the UK or anything like that. Im from the Republic of Ireland.
Lastly Im surprise you didnt get into that post what a good deal you got on your house a few years ago :D

Lighten up Douglas!

"Wearing socks and sandals is rediculous as it totally negates the reason for wearing sandals"

What's the difference....sandals and socks or not, shirt and t-shirt or not, pants and underwear or not......I can understand judging a person if he's wearing rags or bare-chested downtown or barefoot in the complex (I've seen them all).......but judging a person because he's wearing socks and sandals?
I took the attached photo at a wedding party last week. I've always enjoyed the Thai sense of dress for such occasions.......silk dresses, normal dresses, pants, jeans, shorts, flip flops, high heels (rare), sandals (with and without socks), nice shirts and ugly shirts. No one is turned away at the door and I've never heard anyone criticize what someone else wears to these occasions. It's one of the nicer aspects of living here. Let's not fudge it up with our western 'values'.

Looks to me that you should be the one to lighten up Dermot. If Douglas wants to wear socks with his Sandals it's his business. By the way, the Kiwi's do the same thing and we Aussies have bagged them about it for years with zero effect. I prefer to wear Singlets to T Shirts. Many may accuse me of being a Thug, a ------ or a lot of other names, but all who know me say I'm a good Person !! So tell us how you Dress so we can all Scoff at you and call you a silly Irish B@stard and see how that feels 8) I didn't think so :-"

I think most people on here will agree that we can wear what we like… who cares what other people think… not that they think anything in the first place… most people are only bothered about what they themselves are wearing… it used to be a common topic on here a few years ago with some people telling others to dress to impress… life is just too short…
I myself like wearing football tops and shorts… with no underwear… nice and cool and lots air circulating around my neither region… lots of nice smiles from the girlies too….

I agree - each to his own, and live and let live; though I'd be a bit wary of a bee or wasp flying up my nether region if it was me. I hope you don't travel by m/bike like that. ;)
