chainsaw for rent

where could i rent a chainsaw to cut some trees down,or does anybody know off a reliable person who does this service.

Chainsaws are under very strict licensing control here . It is very doubtful if you will see one for rent. However most police stations have one for emergency purposes and if you ask they may have a person who will do the work for you .

Truebrit is correct. It's easier to get a handgun in Thailand then a chainsaw. This is do to the logging industry and trying to control poachers

I was in Global yesterday and they had about 12 gasoline powered chainsaws on display ranging in price from 3,000 baht to almost 9,000 baht....But the bar looked to be only about 12 inches long...So I think the law concerns the size of the chain saw...

no license required....... , try to find some local people to cut the trees , they are very handy with the machete or saw , so you will not need a chainsaw...

A few years ago you couldn't find a chainsaw in any of the stores. Now, they're all over. You can buy a 12" model (3000 baht for the chinese version.....7500 for the other) without a license. They have electric ones as well, but don't know the price.

Anyone who has one over 12 inches should be registered with the police,that goes for chainsaws as well.

You might check with your local tesaban. They have quite a large selection of construction/destruction equipment. They may to send out one of their workers with the saw to do the work if they have one. Usually, they will leave the payment for the worker up to you.

Thanks for all the replies,think i will search around the village for someone who has a saw,or something similar,the main problem was when i was not there last year,they chainsawed some trees out the front,but now i am left with 1-2m stumps,we had big storm come through so i wanted to get rid of some trees that might cause damage, in the future if similar storm comes through.

I bought a Tuf brand chainsaw at Global House last May for 2950 Baht. Same size, nearly identical in looks, but Hitachi brand was about 7900 Baht. One year later and an acre and a half of mature trees trimmed/cut, the Tuf brand is working like a champ. Keep the blade properly tightened and oiled, use a chainsaw sharpener (70 baht) once a month or so (takes about 10 minutes), and the 12" blade cuts easily through 8" timber. Our gardener made minced meat of this tree that blew down in a recent wind storm. Most of the bigger pieces are cut into 18" lengths which the gardener uses to make charcoal.

I read your post. I have an electric chainsaw - couldn't find a sharpener at Global House yesterday - need to sharpen the chain - where should I look.
