Vegemite !

Anybody know where to by Vegemite in Udon or Nongkai ?...(Marmite just aint what it used to be !)

Last time I was in there (which was some time ago) the farang shop just before the bridge was stocking Australia's favourite food.

Vegemite is or was on the list of products that were blocked for importation because of the beef fat offal content of the product along with other stuff like Bovril etc , Marmite is not on the list cos its yeast based and gets in ok. Its not illegal to bring it or eat it etc its just on the blocked list for bulk imports.

I have Vegemite hand carried in tubes like toothpaste (no jars) approx every 2/3 months months , the next lot isnt for a while and its comng with some ozz whole striploin , n ribeye , i will keep you informed.

.........As far as I'm aware Vegemite is, and always has been a Yeast based product. Some countries (e.g. USA, Denmark) have not approved importation because of added vitamins (particularly Vitamin B). Which in the US case is a little weird given Kraft( who own Vegemite) is an US Company.

Can get vegemite in Phuket no problem, I eat it every day on my saladas for morning smoko, how boring been doing that for thirty five years.

No beef as one well informed poster has mentioned.
I would have thought the VEG part would have given a clue.

Spoke to the import agent last night about other stuff but did mention the vegemite , some ingredient has got this product on the list for non importation , maybe not perminantly but while its checked out ref contents , stuff is added and taken off the list at a drop of a hat so nowt to go by and its normal according to her.

Marmite is being muted to be checked out as well .

Either marmite oe vegemite love it or hate it , it is an accquired taste , some customers tell me they eat it everyday others wouldnr touch it with a bardge poll but i suppose that could be said about numerous food products.

Always been a marmite fan so far (to do with being English maybe!) but will give this one a try. Too much chilli has taken the edge of marmite a bit....

Import Direct, Nong Khai has vegemite, 100 metres right hand side before the Friendship Bridge. Bit exxy but what aussie can live without it?

NOng khai direct usually have it but if you are desparate phimpone minimart and simuang minimart in vientiane have it also , even seen it in a lot of ma and pa stores around vientiane
