OT's been learning - well actually I've been doing a couple of HSE courses which is a bit pointless in OTs opinion, however I am enjoying the break and not taking much notice of what I'm being taught.
I was thinking about how education is important and then went on to realise how much I hate it. Not the learning itself, just the pain in the backside way we have to attain knowledge about certain things that we have no interest. It's a pity someone hasn't come up with a way to learn something that we are not interested in without doing any work.
With a bit of luck I'll fail the final exam and enjoy a bit more English summer as well as getting a letter of dismissal from work, by e mail - not fax.

OT is thinking, along with others no doubt, what is KHONDAM going on about. OT likes a bit of useless thought, but it's got to be slightly understandable.
KD - please can you get your wife to decipher your last opening thread and tell us what you mean. And get the doctor to whack another 50mg of morphine in your IV.

Just killing time:

Makes Sense (now that I've been living in the villiage for 3 years):

Falang wants to kill all the ants around the house, Thais like the ants as they clean up after everyones done eating on the floor.

Thais don't kill spiders/geckos around the house, makes sense as they knock down the termite and bug population.

(Think about this), How much worst would it be if Thais didn't eat grasshoppers, ant and ant eggs, beatles, snakes, rats, frogs, termites etc!!!

(only my observation) Thais love hot/spicy food, I don't!!! Have noticed that mosquitos will bit me more than the wife, so does eating spicy food keep mosquitos at bay???

Can't think of any more stupid stuff, again just killing time until the family wakes-up!!!

Morning! My mob is still asleep as well.

I really like the hot and spicy food and I've found that as I'm eating more chilli, garlic etc now, I don't get as many colds as I used to. All that stuff is supposed to be good for you. It doesn't keep the mossies away though - they seem to love farangs!

Ants - I was inundated with them in the last house I rented, but don't have a problem where I am now. I went to Tool Pro Plus and bought a tub of putty and filled in all the cracks around the house and it seemed to stop many of them. The Jingjo's do a great job of the mossies and other bugs so I like them around. I try to get rid of those red ant nests in the trees if I can as their bite isn't pleasant, but you're right, the locals seem to love eating their eggs.

I haven't heard a Tookay for ages. Wife tells me me that Thai's can get a great deal of money for them now - My immediate response was - well, that's the end of the Tookay!

Ok, back to my forex analysis of what's been happenning this week!

Kids screaming next door, dog jumping on the bed, nothing wakes my wife up. Just rolls over and goes back to sleep.

Yup my bunch is up but they're all over at the folks house eating their morning boiled sticks and leaves, sticky rice and larb moo that's been sitting around all night unrefrigerated and covered with flies. Me, I had coffee and donuts. On the subject of ants, even after caulking all the openings they still get in but I've found that ant chalk works wonders. If you've got the patience to track them down to their lair, then block their path with that chalk it seems to wipe them out, for a while anyway. Don't know how it works but it seems to. I don't mind the geckos as I enjoy watching them gobbling up the little bugs that accumulate around the lights at night. Free, all you can eat buffet at Jimbo's house every night.

Is Tookay that big gecko??

Wife indicated, you can get up to 20K baht for a big one (talking more than 2 feet long). We have 2 running outside the house (standard, we leave 2 lights on outside which draws the gecko's food), both around 10 inches long.

Really didn't think they get that big or at least I haven't seen a large one yet. Most likely eaten before they get fully grown!!!

They do make a racket, kupkat...kupkat all nite!!!

Have a huge one at my place. About 6 inches long. Wife says it is not a Gecko. I call it a uh oh. That's the sound it makes, usually 5-6 uh oh's in a row sometimes 7 which the wife says is lucky, but if you get 8 uh oh's in a row you will have really great luck. When laying in bed before going to sleep I will count how many uh oh's, found out the wife does the same. Last time in laos for a visa run couldn't sleep at night, no uh oh"s to count

OT handed his phone to a WFB last night to add her number to my list, and ever since then the alarm wake up call on the phone has been sending OT a wake up call, every hour, in a another tone, every hour. Smart WFB.

I have been retired in Thailand now for over one year, and I have been thinking about why the locals like to refer to a light skinned farang as "white buffalo". For the longest time I haven't been able to connect the dots until a few days ago when I passed by a white cow feeding in a field, and I noticed that he had a bird of prey on his back.
