Not such a bad thing if you read the many news stories lately. I am a firm believer in quality not quantity .wiking wrote:

I really don't understand the abstensions vice voting against Yingluck for PM????? What parliamentary or politic tactic is that??? 3 Dems voted NO and the rest abstained.....
A total of 296 MPs voted in support of Ms Yingluck, the country’s first female prime minister, while three Democrat MPs voted against her, with 197 abstentions - including Ms Yingluck, the new speaker and one of his deputies, and most members of the main opposition parties, the Democrat and Bhumjaithai parties, and the four members of the Rak Thailand Party led by Chuvit Kamolvisit

Interesting how their vote buying minimum wage of 300 baht is getting bad reviews according to my TW,watching Thai news is that if it did ever go ahead then eating out will become more expensive.Loved the way the stall holders selling noodle soup were saying that if it comes into play then noodle soup will double in price to 70 baht since workers have more money in their pockets
With the computers fol kids, will their be any kickback on bulk buying the computers say priced 10/20 % more.C'mon Thaksin your are pulling the strings, sort it out
LOL

Computers I was thinking about that, if they are not set up right the kids will be playing video games and using the social sites.. I thought the POST said it was for the Parliment Secretary. I hope your right and I'm wrong. Th meeting in the Hospital.
Kick backs they did a study on that, the majority of Thai People said they believed graft was OK. So it's their Country and that is system they want. So I'm not going to say a word about that, especially after watching my home Government recently.
Well one thing for sure costs will go up, how much I have no idea. I don't like noodles but fuel will hit me hard. Starting next week I don't look for much baht for my dollar. Maybe that 300 baht will make manger manage and you won't have 12 people at the register.
It may turn into a blessing it might be a curse, time will tell. Where might be a blessing, might give more extra money to buy goodies, if so that may be an offset to exporting and help the domestic economy. If you see 70 baht Nooden, it will be a curse.
Just checked the NAtion the P.M will meet tomorrow at 1730 hours, good news.
What frighten is how many times have you heard your husband has more money so he should pay more in one form or another, obviously someone is thinking that now that applies to their fellow Thai's.

Interesting points there Pompui.First the food prices. Yes they will definitely go up, not just because the purchasers will have more money but also the vendors will want an equivalent increase in their earnings, naturally , and whilst we can all moan. Is it right that we should all enjoy cheap food, or anything else for that matter , riding on the backs of cheap wages?pompui wrote:Interesting how their vote buying minimum wage of 300 baht is getting bad reviews according to my TW,watching Thai news is that if it did ever go ahead then eating out will become more expensive.Loved the way the stall holders selling noodle soup were saying that if it comes into play then noodle soup will double in price to 70 baht since workers have more money in their pockets![]()

I know I am spouting socialist ideology there, but truly I am staunch Conservative. However I do have a social conscience
As for the computers. Of course there will be some under the table shenanigans, as there will be with 20 new helicopters or anything else for that matter. We have only changed governments, not reinvented society .Mind you, a hundred million baht being spent on someones cremation would have been better spent on a few new schools and , in my opinion, been a better memorial if one was needed .But that's another topic . It does occur to me though that if all the kids are going to have computers it will surely be the end of internet shops. How they will prevent them using them out of hours though? Well that's another matter .

The Shinawatra family owns a electronics maker I don't think they will need kickbacks, part of it is located in China. These days that company sells for .40 baht in 2007 12.40 baht.
The soon to be P.M has asked 3-G bidders to supply WIFI in school areas for free. That could be a very large area of free access. Yes what may be a boon for Thailand may be very rough on internet shops. One thing that Thailand does very good is control food costs. We may see 70 baht nooden for a bit. But, I doubt it will last long.

I'm always amazed at the swarms of young reporters who are within a whisker's length of the newly appointed PM. Today's evening news showed easily 20 reporters surrounding the PM, their only job seems to be to hold a microphone/recorder close enough to capture the PM's voice. There doesn't look to be a seasoned reporter in the bunch.....matter of fact they look like they just stepped off the Rajabhat bus.
I suppose all of their machinery is security scanned before they get to plant it within inches of the PM's face. t.i.t.

She is certainly big news, parrot.
Not such big news (on this forum at least) is the handing back of fines and seized money (11 billion baht) to the Shinawat offspring, arising from the ownership of shares in the Shin Corp sale to Temasek.
Both children, and the new PM (apparently) testified in court that they were, roolly, troolly, the owners of the said shares - and therefore liable for taxes and penalties upon sale of same (and thereby saving Thaksin's skin).
Another court has ruled that they were actually not the owners, but that they belonged to Thaksin and Pojamin. It remains to be seen whether the tax liability will follow the ownership, and whether perjury charges will be visited upon the kids, and the PM.
Don't hold your breath.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
