"various mental illnesses"
Parrot thinks this has been pointed out to OT (many times) in the past. Parrot's convinced that OT's 'eyes' are inoperative on his keyboard.
On the other hand, it's possible he's doing it purposely. I came across this as a possible explanation:
"The use of the third person. I actually kind of like this because it’s a very old-timey journo sort of thing to do. Kind of like wearing fedoras and rushing to find payphones to call in copy"
Maybe OT was a journalist in his previous life.

jackspratt reckons O-T was a mentally unbalanced WFB in his previous life.

Not to change the topic, but jackspratt's avatar, while walking normally on my PC, looks like she is sprinting on my Samsung Galaxy Tab (7"). Quite a nice effect, really...

In various studies since the 1980's its a verified scientific fact that people who refer to themselves in the third person suffer from various mental illnesses.

What about these neutrinos that travel faster than the speed of light. OT has been giving this thing a bit of thought today. These neutrino particles are fast - It's very simple. They've fired a beam of particles called neutrinos from a gun in Geneva which have smashed into an underground brick wall in Gran Sasso, 730km away. They've measured how far it is. They've measured how long it's taken, and it would appear to have travelled faster than the speed of light - which means it got there before it left = time travel.
If you are a a neutrino can you please pop back and see OT to let him know who is going to win the horse racing at Newmarket next Saturday.

ot, can't tell you the winner of the horse race, but if you're going to buy last week's Thai lottery number, I'd suggest you pick 731198.....it's sure to be a winner.

OT slept on the thought of time travel now. People are saying that if time travel was possible we would have people from the future here now. My argument is this, it'll take billions or more years to perfect the system and by that time we would have evolved into something unimaginable - it's been a relatively short time since we were germs in a pond - so when we have turned into a super-homo at an unimaginable date in the future and perfected time travel, why would we want to come back to this time? living standards and life in general 100 years ago was ---- and I'm sure in a hundred years time we'll think now is ----. So my theory is time travel will be possible but no super-homo has wanted to come back to this. Yet. Maybe there'll be a few super-homos waiting for us in the year 4012.

Yesterday while doing our annual thing at immigration, I got to thinking about my 800k in the bank. A few weeks ago, it was worth $26,666 (at 30/1), but yesterday it was more like $25,900. I wonder what Master Po would say about such a thing......as an American expat living in Thailand, am I better off with the exchange rate at 30 to 1 or better off at 31 to 1.
That's the problem with living in Thailand....sometimes there's too much time to think.

OT has been investigating what moderate drinking is, quite simply because it's supposed to be fairly good for you. I lasted about two tenths into the explanation of what moderate drinking is before I realised that there is no such thing, it's a wind up. Who can drink one glass of wine or one and a half pints of beer or two short measures of whiskey without wanting and indeed taking another. Still, if you can you might live longer according to reports.
Another thing was coffee, as it's supposed to give you a buzz and uplift your mood ready for the day ahead. Well I've tried the best nerve jolting coffee in a small glass and all that happened is me posting this rubbish before I go to bed.

OT thinks Chris Christie would make a fine President. He is not one of these toffee nosed republicans that spend all their time at the golf or squash club. In fact I would go so far as to say that watching sport on the telly is the nearest he's got to exercise. All his staff are thin because they have to walk around him which takes up most of the day.
If he did become president he wouldn't be the fattest in history, there was another one that was more than this 300 pounder, but he was around before televisions were so he was heard but hardly ever seen by the public.
Those Doritos must be good.

I think Taft weighs in as the heaviest president on record.......around 350 lbs. As for those Doritos, one of my favorites when I'm on vacation in the US, I see the guy who came up with the idea of Doritos recently died at the ripe old age of 94. And all along I was thinking Doritos were bad for me!

I was thinking...since all the flooding in Thailand began I have been following on TV the total amount of charitable contributions made by private citizens and large corporations. Today at noon the figure was around 200 Million Baht...which is equivalent to 6.48 Million US$...or the cost to rebuild about 23 average priced homes in the US. Just how charitable are the Thais by comparison? I'm watching the news now, and I'm seeing politicians and movie stars and other celebrities passing out care packages with highly visible company logos on the bags. Everybody gets their 5 minutes of fame on the TV, the celebs promote themselves and the corporations that are represented, and after receiving their packages in neck deep water the victims wade away with a smile and enough food to last a few days, and then they're helpless again.
Huge local corporations have their representatives stand in front of the TV cameras and hold up a 1 x 3 meter replica of a real check for 100,000 Baht, or US$3,333, and take huge credit for their prized donation. Seems like the opportunists are everywhere handing out pocket change and expecting big publicity and staggering returns on their investment once this is all over with.
I can think of a few people who could write a check for 200 Million Baht and never even blink an eye. I suppose this kind of scenario plays out in just about every country in the world during times like this, but it just seems to be more endemic here in Thailand.
So how charitable have I been through all this you ask? None of your business!!
MATTHEW 6 says:
2 When you give a gift to someone in need, don't shout about it as the hypocrites do -- blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I assure you, they have received all the reward they will ever get. 3 But when you give to someone, don't tell your left hand what your right hand is doing. 4 Give your gifts in secret, and your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you.

Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

I was thinking , did O/T invent the Well Fit Bird(WFB) title or plagiarise it, so I looked in my on line dictionary and discovered, pulchritudinous, a physically beautiful, comely lady. So I guess he couldn't spell a 5 syllable word and used WFB.

To be quite honest TB, OT didn't invent those words, they were all in the dictionary that you are talking about, however if you put them together and use WFB as a description of a well fit bird, then that is down to me. I couldn't think of a more accurate way of putting it. Or them.trubrit wrote:I was thinking , did O/T invent the Well Fit Bird(WFB) title or plagiarise it, so I looked in my on line dictionary and discovered, pulchritudinous, a physically beautiful, comely lady.
