At this moment very busy everyday by the water in Nong Wua So, Nong Wua so
This has all to do with loi Krathong and the boot races.
In the afternoon there is also a lot off fun for the children.
Off course in the evening more noisy with music and food and drinks
Yes it will be a little less sleepy on Loy Krathong the 10th. They are having a small gathering lakeside in Non Wai. I won't be there to see it as hopefully , waters permitting, I will be off to the Remembrances Ceremony in Kanchanaburi for the 13th .

As you're facing the 7-11 from the market, there's an internet cafe about 150-200m to the left of the 7-11. I used it about 2 months ago when our phone was out. 15baht per hour, I seem to recall......good enough speed.

Well the sad news, there will be no Loy Krathong celebration in Nong Wai this year. The newly elected Tessabahn team has decided that don't have the money to do so . Strange that the previous administration funded the event for the last 8 years to my knowledge ,without any problems. It follows on a general decline in the level of administration facilities since they have been in power, including the recent boat race organisation . :-"

Hello trubrit,

That's bad news.
More folk will come to the Nong Wua So lake.
Than it will be very crowded this year especially on Loi Krathong evening.

Some kind of dance contest today in Nong Or/Nong Wai, no specific details except it's starts at 4PM and is sponsored by some energy drink company.

Had the same event last year, both old and young ladies dancing.

Will be taking the daughter, dancing gets her tired and hopefully she'll sleep early tonight!!!

By coincidence just after reading your post a Carabou mini bus pulled up outside and a group of girls trouped into my wife's salon to have their hair done. They were the promo girls so I was able to find out a bit more. It starts at 4.00 until 9.00pm and is being held on the market area just out the back of the temple in Nong Or .It's a travelling promotion for Carabou Daeng energy drink. There is a competition for dancing , all age groups and something to do with Som Tum, a display or competition I'm not sure which. Its a one night only thing, on the road again tomorrow .Maybe see you there . :D

School mininbus smash.

Post by trubrit » November 15, 2011, 8:07 pm

Today on the way home from Udon we came upon a big smash involving a school mini bus on its way back to Nong Wau Sor with 12 young kids on board .As my wife recognised the registration we stopped and rushed a cross to help .It was the bus from our neighbours next door .Apparently a motor bike had cut across in front causing them to swerve, cross the central reservation and hit a pick up coming the other way .They then crashed into a concrete signpost .It had only just happened so we were able to help the kids out . Thankfully apart from minor cuts and bruises they all seemed to be okay . The driver a lady was badly banged about and obviously shaken. She was taken to hospital with three of the kids for further examination .The driver of the pickup was not so fortunate, he had to be cut free from his damaged vehicle and was taken away unconscious .After calming the kids down we managed to get them on board and delivered them to their obviously worried parents .When you see the photos of the bus, you must , like me, say a thankful prayer it wasn't more serious .Although our thoughts go out to the pickup driver and hope he recovers soon .

Good luck to the pick-up driver (where is the engine?).

The message for me is, on a busy road, don't swerve to avoid an errant motor cycle rider. [-(

The mini bus has the engine at the back Jack . Whilst your sentiments seem logical in the circumstances I'm afraid mine and I think most peoples instinct would be to avoid the bike. As you may expect the three teenagers on the bike disappeared over the horizon and whilst there were many witnesses, no one got a number .

An update on the above this morning . All the kids have now been discharged from hospital having only minor injuries and the pick up driver has recovered consciousness and is said not to have any life threatening injuries.
The minibus being a Toyota does of course have the engine at the front although its not visible in the photos .

It looks like the Commuter is quite strong in the front...thanks God for that. The last year it has been many accidents involving scoolbuses. This is a scary thing and the law is too weak about driving license for transport people in Thailand. Not a single one of them could pass the driving license test in Sweden......not in this life any way! I feel sorry for the kids in this accident and U make a great job Trubrit!

In addition to the commuter school vans, there are many songkawhs on the same road every morning...During the early morning, every one is over loaded with school kids hanging off the back with one hand....I assume that we will have to have a major accident before they start limiting the number of people allowed into the songkawh...
