Mr. Mashs perhaps your views are clouded by the fact that you associate with a bunch of drunken louts inhabiting the "pubs of Britain" as well as the bars of Udon, Pattaya, etc. If you would try associating with a better class of people you might not be so cynical about Thai women.

My point was not 'the relationship' but more the taste of members regarding beauty/attractive.
Can we get an impression of member's taste?

I would have to side with Mash. 11 years in Udon. In that time I have seen more failed marriages then succesfu onesl. And everyone of them failed shortly after the new car and new house were bought. All in the lady's name of course.

Jimbo ......i DO NOT EVER frequent the bars in either Udon or Pattya , ive lived and had busineses in Thailand 15 plus years and my opinion is based on the experiences related to me by customes , freinds and even family on this subject ....most certainly NOT drunken louts ........ so lets not attept to sterotype me for my personal veiws . and the first hand experiences of these other people .

You have your opinion and i / we how ours ,,, forums would be a boring as hell if we all agreed to agred about everything

Mash I certainly didn't mean to imply that you personally frequent the bars in Udon and Pattaya, and apologize if I did. What I was saying was that you get your information and draw conclusions, as do I, from the people you encounter and I dare-say mostly from your customers. So I would suggest that your perception is flawed. For example, when I first came to Thailand some six years ago I did, for a brief time, frequent the bars in Pattaya and Udon and paid my share of bar fines with no regrets. The other farangs I met in these expeditions had a jaded view of Thai women, just as you and many other posters on here have. Had to listen to the stories of how these evil women had fleeced them of everything, cheated on them, etc.

When I tired of this and made some genuine friends in Thailand I found a whole different world. I have met many more Thai/Farang marriages/friendships that have lasted a long time than I have met failed marriages. Some lasting more than 10, 20, 30 or more years, both here and in the States. I don't know of any statistics to prove any of this so, as you say, we just have to form our own opinions based on the information at hand.

Merchant I mostly agree with you, that has been my experience with most of the couples I know. My reasons for marrying my wife were : intelligence, compatibility, common sense, business sense, goals in life, and sexual skills. Beauty is not even a factor in Thailand since most Thai women are drop dead gorgeous IMHO. I would be in bad shape if I were to try to choose a w/gf based on beauty. I would be like a kid in a candy store. I can't make it through Big C without seeing at least a dozen women that I want to run up to them and promise to be their slave for life if they would just allow me to kiss the soles of their feet. Fortunately I have self restraint. That and the fact that my wife and baby are nearby. :D

AND

in the Dutch news and according to the Dutch central buro of statistics:
Between 2001 and 2011, the number of mixed relationships with non-Western partner increased by 20 thousand. This increase was particularly high in Thai-Dutch couples (from 2.8 thousand to 5.7 thousand) and Brazilian-Dutch couples (from 2.1 thousand to 4.0 thousand).

Not only in NL.

Having lived n ran a business in Pattaya its as plain as day it would be very dificult to maintain a stablt Farang / Thai relationship living in such a ----- ,,,,, way more chance for acouple to settle n be "happy" whatver that entrails some where like Udon .

There are so many issues related to this it will remain a topic that all have different ideas on depending on their own or friends experiences ,,, for sure a divorce it not always the fault of the Thai lady as there some fruitcakes who choose to give it a throw of the dice ..........and for every one tha leaves the land of smiles in turmoil theres 5 more arriving at swampy in the search for utopia .

Respect your opinion Jimbo ....

re. buying a new car
If you want to buy a new car, pls. do it in your own name, it is easy, go to the emmigration and ask for permission to own a vechiele car or motorbike it does not matter, bring your long term visa and passport ofcourse. If you have a 3 month visa minimum, then you can buy in your own name and thus not need to be framed by your gf. :D

Alright, thanks for that. Now, in the spirit of the OP, are you going to post a picture of your car?
