Another Alcohol free day?

Post by stattointhailand » May 17, 2012, 5:01 pm

Can anyone confirm that the bars will be closed on Saturday. Perfect timing again for the Championship play off final at Wembley

It just HAS to be a woman who organises these election dates

If so, another good excuse to stay home Saturday.

I've just been informed by a government officer that since the election is local, bars are not closed.

Temptation always gets the best of me. If closed, it's always easier to ignore.

Bars should be open Saturday, so I'll be faced with temptation. 8)

Not too many mom & pop stores will have the Championship playoff final available for their customers.

Agree. From what I have been able to learn from government employees, the bars that close will do so voluntarily. Those employees know of no mandate to close.

Then why are the police telling bars to close?

Is that Nutty Park and Day/Night, or all bars?

Perhaps the police have not checked with Udon Map or some of the posters. If I owned a bar and the police told me not to open I wouldn't open.

John, I ask that because I know you've been here long enough to know that those bars are occasionally treated differently than other bars in town. It is not uncommon for those areas to be told to close and the rest of town is operating as usual.

The bar owner that informed me is neither in Day & Night or Nutty Park, which is why I assumed that all bars would have to close as opposed to just those in the two complex. I checked back after I realised that nobody had been told in NP, and the owner's wife assured me that they had recieved a visit from the police to inform them

Just talked to two bar owners in NP and one outside of NP. They'll be open. They have not received any visits from anyone. The one outside even called the police themselves and were told that they did not have to close.

I guess there are mixed messages being delivered.
