I wonder if he got the "Kootoot Ka" we are all so familiar with. Bet his face was red

Who said Thai's don't have a sense of humour? The coup leader was reported as saying there will be fresh general elections shortly and""Mr T would be welcome to stand for election" :^o

In the UK, any spell behind bars, even just a day, negates your right to stand.

Sorry, it will work if you can submit the whole link, including the black bit. I don't know why it would not paste the 'etat across, maybe something to do with the apostrophe.

Maybe if you pste across what you can, then type in the last bit.

Valentine,
I think it is yet another bit of the real effort being made by the interim leaders to reassure the people of Thailand and hopefully eventually other nations that the current governance is for as short a time as possible.

The coup leaders have done an outstanding job within the country, planning and implementing what surely has been one of the quickest and most painless coups ever undertaken. Their wisdom in taking counsel from an individual has been the masterstroke.

Western and the rich Asian governments and investors need to be put at ease, but if handled quickly and effectively the economic damage, will be minimial.
From what I see on foreign views to date, only Kofi Amin (spelling) has enough of an understanding of Thai culture and the importance of His Majesty an individual in domestic affairs, to be able to reflect a view of what the situation is and how it will play out. Most of the other world leaders are of on a wrongful tangent of this being a blow for democracy, and Thailand is of the rails and heading for disaster.
"And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll"

Can only agree with you 100% roadman. As I said in an earlier posting, the wisdom displayed by doing everything in a transparent manner and with apparently the full knowledge of an individual has reaped its rewards in a peaceful transition of power. We can only hope the same wisdom pervades the next election and the candidates.
On a personal note, whilst welcoming the peaceful manner of the change, I wish it had taken a bit longer, my pounds were looking healthy again.
