VAN transportation from Swampy to Udon

Post by mangon1947 » June 21, 2012, 8:45 am

My children are coming into Swampy on the 27th at about 2230. I want to take a van from the airport to Udon after they get through immigration. Does anyone know costs and contact info. I plan to meet them there so I'll likely fly down.
Thanks,
Ed

Off the top of my head I think you could get a big car/van and driver for 5 - 6 thousand baht. You can go to the 4th level (ARRIVING passengers) and hail a car from there. That way you can check out a suitable vehicle. I would not suggest using the services INSIDE the terminal. You'll pay a hefty "surcharge" there. However, your guests are arriving late at night and they'll be tired, and maybe not much in the mood for scoping out and negotiating for transportation. One more alternative is do what we did last year. Because of all the extra baggage my wife and I were bringing from America we had our brother in law rent a pickup from here and come to meet us. Total cost for that, including fuel both ways, was about 6,000. But that was before rainy season. A pickup wouldn't be advisable this time of year. If no one posts a better solution for you I'll have my wife call her cousin in Bangkok to see if they know somebody.
Every day I wake up is a good day.
