Hi , I am coming back to Udon Thani from the 3rd of September for three weeks ( all I can manage this time ) , so if there are any like minded people out there , then maybe we could meet up . Also its possible you could learn something or visa versa I could learn from you , then produce better snaps / photographs / works of art , as result to put proudly on the wall .

My time is free , no catches just being sociable while the Thai Mrs sees the family . I don't really drink but I am happy to meet at a bar .

What to bring : Dslr plus lens or lenses up to you in preference to a compact and if you have one , a tripod ,as I can't bring one .

My History :
A semi pro published photographer , Mainly school publications .
I shoot canon but I am familiar with the others , but it would be a good idea to bring an instruction book .
My main photography is Private Sports sports and events .

Some examples :

http://www.stowe.co.uk/news-and-events/ ... s-lacrosse

http://www.stowe.co.uk/news-and-events/ ... 65-cricket

So if you are interestested let me know and maybe we can set up a group in Udon , whilst I am still in the UK I can critique and help make you a better photographer online .

Roy

I suspect that most of the "snappers" in Udon will be found in and around the night market usually on a plate with rice etc;

There's not a lot of "sport" in Udon (apart from a few of the bars), and Udon's finest would more than likely be reluctant to leave a bar if that is where you meet.

Seriously though Photoman (apart from Benzman who can often be found taking pics at pool matches in Nutty Park) I don't think I have seen anyone else carrying anything more than a point and shoot camera. I have a cheap Canon EOS ? but that is usually only out for family get togethers or holidays

I recall stumbling across a nice website a few years ago (before I moved to Udon) that was run by a couple of young girls, students if I recall correctly, that had started a photography business in Udon. They did have several volumes of pictures of each other that they professed to have taken of each other and they were extremely easy on the eye. Sort of low-key, swimsuit-style glamour shots. That link was saved to an extinct computer so maybe some of the other forumites managed to catch it? I recall they said they were new at the photography business, expanding on a hobby and asking for advice as well as seeking work doing the usual weddings, social functions, etc.. I hope they are still around, they were a pair of cuties!

Hi ... Thankyou to those who passed on the info .

Obviously this seems the wrong area to introduce this , you must be enjoying yourselfs too much .

Lee & Parrot ... Thankyou for the links ., I will give them call .

Strattointhailand .... You say there are no sports in the area , ( this is not all I do but I suppose it is what I shoot 75% of the time ) you'd be surprised ... Football , Tennis , Cricket , Athletics , Golf and loads more including Takraw ,played around the park most evenings plus they are building a large sports facility .... ( this was taken last year in late evening light , so the iso was at its max hence shutter speed was a little on the low side . ...Image

Texas ... Nice colours mate , the lilly is my favourite , with the two spiders on the pad . But some feedback to make your photos better , would be to shift your focus point of centre .

Benzman : What can I say , apart from the pair of lovely legs in the background of the pool shot I can't get exited about any of them .

If you or anyone else for that matter has a genuine interest in getting more than just snaps , I would be happy to guide you .

Glad you like them Photoman...admittedly, the colors are enhanced after the shot in the first two, but I like the effect a lot. My personal favorite are the orchids, but I did like the spiders on the lily shot. :) The second pair of the dragonfly were exactly what came off the camera.

Many years ago in a galaxy far, far away, I actually worked as a pro photographer for a few years. Did mostly advertising illustration and magazine free-lance. Heh, this was in the days of film, where the first two shots would have taken hours in the darkroom to achieve, vs a few minutes processing on the computer. I still enjoy shooting when something catches my eye, even though I have nowhere near the kit I had back then, but the computer allows for a lot of leeway that the darkroom did not allow. Will post a few more from time to time, and yeah, I often have things off center, but these just happened to all be centered.

Nice stuff... this is an interesting thread!!! I look forward to seeing more. Photography was always one of those subjects that I wish I knew more about.

BigBubba ... Thanks .

Lets keep the thread going .

I will be there in September , if you want to learn more . I can not move to Thailand permanently yet , but would like to generate some interest .

There are many forms of photography , just choose and enjoy .

If you want to start before Sept then post an image and I will critique and pass on my experience . Obviously some subjects can be personal , some like a particular angle or exposure . There are some set rules which can make or break an image .

Typing this while listening to the sounds of F1 in the rain , as I live and work almost on the Silverstone track , in fact Stowe corner .

Thanks for your interest

Hi KB_Texas .

I started out in the film days too but soon got bored , but in 2000 I purchased my first DSLR body a Nikon D1 body only @£3,800 ( in fact one of the first in the country ) by no means perfect but it did the job and made me money .Digital has come a long way since those days .

I will look forward to seeing more images from you .

Thanks for joining in .

I was clearing out an old hard drive and came across the website and some pictures that I mentioned earlier. The website is no longer there but here's one of Namtip and Boom's tasteful offerings.

Tamada ... Nice image and very easy on the eye ... I like the use of 1/3 line to position the most prominent points of the image . :D
