I find Bubba's photos to be nice enough and a fair representation of the actual product.

And I do not believe replies on Udonmap stating "wow, that looks nice, I'll come by one of these days to try it...." are what Bubba or others are expecting to read, though of course I may be wrong, as I often am.

Seeing is believing, my discerning kids really enjoyed the spaghetti meatballs shown above, which I only considered after having seen an actual plate as well as the photo.

Here we go again. Experts wanting to tell someone how to run their business. Why don't the expert have their own business? Or do they?

Samsan, your polite writing was interpreted by me and probably by most as meant to be helpful, constructive criticism.

Supose I am not very picky about photo quality, though I am picky about food, atmosphere, service, and even value, all of which I find to be quite pleasant at Bubba's. It's a unique little place. Just curious Samsan, are you a patron there?

We certainly appreciate your concern samsam. Unlike you, we are complete novices in this business. However, in just 3 months of being in business we are meeting the financial goals we set for ourselves. A goal we originally thought would take 6 months to reach, or more. So we are quite happy with the way things are going . We have a loyal customer base and they continue to be the best possible advertising for us. It is always comforting to see a new face come in and remark, "so and so told me to come here." This is worth more than any photo, print ad, or price promotion.

I have my own opinion about photos of food, which I addressed earlier, but people have asked for them and I try to accommodate everyone. Obviously, this is not possible! What I find most amazing is of all the interesting topics to review and comment that you, as a new member, chose this thread for your first post. It didn't offend me, but it does raise questions as to your motivation.

Photos look fine. Of course you could hire a professional and get awesome photos. Kidding! Having retired from the industry basic is best. Towards the end of my career I shied away from the fancy stuff and preferred the style you are doing now. Always wondered what a dish didn't need to taste good, it became my basic philosophy. Look forward to stopping in when we arrive in Udon.

i could careless how the picture looks. I'm a sous chef of course working at a hotel kitchen food has to look clean. but from Bubba's pictures. I'd eat it and be satisfied. I understand what Bubba is saying as for the picture quality.. can't judge a book by its cover ;)

@ Bubba: for your hamburgers.. what seasoning do you use? simple salt & pepper? or you have your own kind of seasoning? Do you have a menu online or a picture of your menu? I'm interested in seeing what you have :)

Yes we can! In fact just today an Aussie came in and wanted a Burger "with the lot", which he explained to us was our cheeseburger with bacon and fried egg added. Of course we agreed, and this was the result:

Please excuse the AMATUER photo!

Regarding your question about seasoning... I'd tell you... but then I'd have to kill you, just kidding of course! We use a seasoning from America that I've never seen anywhere in Thailand, but it makes all the difference in the world for good flavor in a burger.

that burger looks HUGE.. i know i'll be cravin n In-n-Out burger in thailand.. so i'll request a custom order.
instead of mayo or mustard.. 1000 island, lettuce/romaine, tomato, onion/sub grill onion..also animal style fries.. yum!
i like my eggs medium in my burgers, once bitten let that creamy yolk just ooze all over my burger yummy!
I have some seasoning recipes I use for my holiday bbq's for burger. it's about 20+ spices/herbs grounded into one. I'll bring that with me if i can.. if not.. ill attempt to make one in UD. and u can try it out.
as for picture suggestion.. have you thought of using a rectangle plate if u have? just for taking pictures?
[burger here,condiments,fries] <-- sorta thing.

Bubba's Bar & Grill - Best Hamburger in Udon?

Post by Brilliant One » July 22, 2012, 1:58 pm

Good to meet you last night Dennis and June. Many thanks for the lovely dinner, comfortable atmosphere, and pleasant conversation. Aoy had the Rib Eye Steak which melted in her mouth.
I had a short-list of places in Udon to buy a good burger, but I will stop looking now. You can't beat your Aussie Hamburger with the Lot. Thanks for going to the trouble to try something new. I will be back! And I might add beetroot next time haha. As I type this I'm enjoying my first Beer Lao (dark lager) Very Nice! Happy Birthday to Roxy. Keep up the good work!
If you need a break from Thai food and have a craving for a burger, I can highly recommend everyone to drop in and try Bubba's Aussie Burger with the Lot. Also, don't rely on the photo - try the Real Thing. Regards, Frank & Aoy
