The best medical insurance u can have by my opinion is to save your money in the bank and use the Thai gowerment hospital if you need, then you meet the best doctors for the a cheap price....the private hospitals in udon are scammers and only steel your money .........i know cause i been in them all! :-"
These days life seems pretty good and I eagerly look forward to the continuation!

I believe one should at least have medical insurance, especially in a foreign land. I had up to now also made use of travel insurance which is not really ideal as sometimes a mission to get authorization from abroad.

I was pleasantly surprised as recently obtained a medical insurance policy locally in Udon from Panjewet Hospital which is great! If you are interested you can pm me for the contact number of the person. It seems best to get this done before age 56 if possible.

We have always had good service from this hospital and really good doctors.

Hi, as far as I understand it, medical Ins from a hospital covers you in that hospital and it MAY also cover you in other hospitals in the same group. As for general health Ins, yes well BUPA has probably the best cover but not prices.
Thai medical ins also gives you a life ins and you need a medical before they will cover you.

In short if you intend to stay in Thailand get ins now it will cover you for a price until you die. Or save your money and hope, or if you have a company get on the Thai Social Security scheme you wont get a pension but there are no limits on health coverage. it is now approx 1000 aonth rising to 1500 per month from Jan next year. in reality its horses for courses.

Found the best idea was to use a broker as no cost and they have all the details.
Try Peter over at AA Insurance Brokers, best i have found here peter@aainsure.net

This debate has been tossed around for years, there are so many variables including age (over 60 forget it) pre existing conditions etc. Being in my early sixties I find self insurance suits my needs best always maintaining a buffer in my Thai Bank to cover, what I would consider, the worst case scenario prior to making the decision to go home. Having lived here for, getting close to, twelve years I'm WAY out in front!

Hello!

It just so happens that I am an agent who sells health insurance for Thai Health.

I feel we have the best health insurance product available in Thailand for foreigners at the best price.

Most foreigners choose our "Wealthy Healthy" plan for the increased level of coverage offered. Please see this link:

Please contact me if you would like further information and a rate quote.

Hi Camps, the quick answer is that it depends on the condition. We would need you to fill out an application and then we would send it to our underwriters to get a quote for coverage. If you have no pre-existing conditions then a quote is easy, we just need your age.
Let me know how I can help.
Best wishes,
Toffee

I agree with Joepai.

At first I looked at brokers selling "International" plans thinking that's all that was available due to my age, selected Allianz but in the end, quite expensive.

Then I discovered Allianz has a SE Asia policy covering Thailand, Malasia, Laos, VN. and a few others as well as
worldwide if your on a holiday somewhere else.

Available until age 65

Price was right, coverage is exactly what I needed and was still with Allianz.

I'm 63, no real pre existings and will go until 70 but was told by Peter that Allianz will soon come out with a policy that will cover you until your exit.

Good luck
