I'll not be in UT until Dec, but I hope this first meeting goes well and starts a trend. If it does, and the dates of my visit match, I'll go out of my way to attend when I arrive.BigBubba wrote:OK, somebody has to get the ball rolling here. I propose this coming Saturday, 8 Sept., at 6PM for the first meeting of us "new comers" to UM.
Before this developes into a them and us situation I would like to point out that Ralph who is organising it has spefically pointed out that all are welcome regardless of forum affiliation or none at all. The night market has the benefit of being a place completely free from sponsorship affiliation and has the advantage of being a place where you can take your other halves.(They just enjoy the shopping)Plus , the beers very cheap.Galee wrote:Not true Freeze.FrazeeDK wrote:I see over on UT an expat get-together is planned also for this Saturday at 6:30PM at the night market.
They are holding a meeting on the 22nd Sept in memory of a member who died.
Absolutely Mak. I don't see anywhere here that significant others were to be excluded, nor do I see that a drunken bash was suggested. On the contrary, I SPECIFICALLY mentioned beer OR soft drinks were to be offered in my first post.mak wrote:I'm sure your wife/girlfriend will be welcome at Bubba's on Saturday. Also the Walking Street is close by for some shopping.
Good you made it, I'm still in the UK (actually been sunny today for a change !) otherwise I would have been there.FrazeeDK wrote: Where were the rest of you???
I suppose free food will pretty much guarantee a good turnout no matter what you label the ocassiontrubrit wrote:Although I was unable to attend due to a last minute problem I understand from UT that it was a great success, with 25 attending including 8 wives.Well done everyone. Hopefully this will be the start of yet more between the two forums members in the future. =D>
There is no such thing as free food.Someone has to pay for it. On this occassion it was provided by a sponsor of UT and I suspect paid for by the surplus available to their admin by other sponsors .Maybe a similar project could be tried here. :-"BigBubba wrote:
