Yes there are Taxis at the airport and even Limo's 8) think the taxis are about 100bht and the limos about 300bht but dont quote me on it :!:
most hotels usualy do a free pick up service if you book in with them so it might be worth contacting where ever you have planned to stay :D

It might be of interest for the more monetery challenged amongst us to know that after using hotel minibuses on many occassions I have never been asked for a booking confirmation. Just select the one of the hotel near to where you want to go, upon arrival, go in and have a pee, then come out again.
I'm sure I have now totally confirmed the views some had of me, but unlike my tights , I am not green.

I have observed the possibility of doing that too (though not actually done it).

Whilst I did book into the Hotel whose transport I took, I did note that I could have just wandered back out of the hotel lobby again. The driver took no interest in where I went or what I did. :D

"Watchout for this man he blag's free ride's into town on our buses"
"if you see him don't approach him" as he may have offensive green tights on.

I have actually changed hotels by this manner. wanting to check out with 2 large suitcases from the Napali and into the more centrally located Chareonsri Grand and being unable to find a proper taxi, as opposed to tuk tuk.I took the minibus to airport where on arrival I transferred my bags to the Grand bus and there I was,on my way back into town again.

Maybe with a bit of planning one could get a free city tour including all the sights, and with a break for lunch, at the airport of course!!

there is limo/taxi service from airport to town, i think 50 baht is the charge. major hotels have free shuttle service. there are no meter taxis or tuk tuks at airport, there is a limo/taxi service counter inside the airport to make arrangements with.

also thought of the just hop on a go to the most convenient hotel, only problem was, i live out of town.

also rental cars available, budget, avis and another, i think.

Believe me BM it wasn't just the 50bht because after I tipped both drivers that had gone. I actually was meeting someone at the Chareonsri that didn;t know I had already been in town 2 days and to be seen stepping from the airport bus was quite convincing of my just arrived status.
I know, is there no depths to the depravity this man will go :?:

Since moving to the new airport - the charge for the Thai sponsored minibus has increased from 50 to 60 baht. This is a shared minibus and will take you anywhere in central Udon. The ticket office is directly opposite the arrivals gate when you walk out of the door. To Nong Khai it is 150 baht.
