Hi ,
I'm looking for a shop in Udon which sells medium grade hifi equipment . Names i'm looking at JBL, Harman Kardon , Yamaha ,Denon, Marantz , Klipsch etc . Anything to find over here or is it better buying it in Bangkok ?? THX .

You will certainly get a better choice in BKK & probably, overall, a better price.
It depends how much you are wanting to spend & if you will need to make a special trip to BKK just to buy the equipment as to where is the best place to buy though.
The big supermarkets & the electrical stores attached to them in Udon often have store 'specials' which can be very good buys if they happen to match your specifications.
You need to save a large amount on what is probably a less than 10,000 baht buy in Udon in order to fund a specific trip.
If it is not an immediate buy then waiting a few months or so might see some improvement in competition in electrical goods in Udon as the new stores open up.
Even if it is an immediate buy, I would suggest that you at least have a look around in Udon first & get some idea of what is available at what price first.
If the item does, heaven forbid, prove faulty then you could have a real issue if your store is 600kms away...

I know there is a store in Udon, i forgot the name, if you come from the Khon Kaen road then you go straight in the first 2 circles, then it is on your left hand before the 3 circle, it has (as far as i remember) a CD on top of the building, they have tv and surround on 1 floor on 2 they have pc, and back on 2 they have a room with what you are looking for, not so much to choose from but there are some good stuff in there.

I looked for this place today but couldnt find it, has anybody got better directions ? Start at the fountain (center) circle and head toward the clock circle. The multi-storied store is on your right hand side, about mid-way between the two circles. There is customer parking on the side of the building toward the rear. There are usually any number of appliance boxes or appliances on 'special' out by the front door.

maybe parrot means digital shop ( saengsathit ) , they also have a second new shop just before makro same side...
and their repair service is located a little bit further the new IT plaza ....

If you can't find what you are looking for in Udon, maybe this place can help you out. www.piyanas.com Lots of mid end stuff. They are based in Bkk but have stores around Thailand as well. Think the closest will be Korat or Khon Kaen.
