Even at 7-11 the-self-service 3in1 coffee is I think 14baht. You go to a coffeeshop they serve you,
perhaps coffee with real milk seperate, sugar, tissue, water, aircon etc.etc.... come on guys,
coffeeshops want to make profit also :D

Example: Ticket Cafe, next to model59

If they want to make a profit, perhaps they need to check what people are prepared to pay before opening :-k

HI,

For all those tea drinkers (me included), I found some pretty good tea at Tesco (Nong Khai road intersection) a couple of weeks ago. I think it was about 50 baht for a box of 40 tea bags.

It's in a red coloured box, labelled Tesco Quality Tea, 40 tea bags, foil wrapped. Also it says medium strength. Just looking at the side of the box it says it comes from Tesco in the UK. That's why I thought I'd give it a go.

Much, much nicer tea than the Lipton's stuff and certainly the nicest tasting I've had in a long time. The missus went yesterday and I told her to pick up some more but she couldn't find them - perhaps they're out of stock at the moment. I wish I'd have bought 10 boxes last time I went. Hope they get some more in quickly!

Apart from that, the DIlmah tea tastes pretty good also, but I could go some Aussie Bushell's.

Actually, by far the best tea I ever have is loose leaf tea made in a pot. What's better than a fresh pot of tea with bacon, eggs, sausage, beans and hash browns in the morning???

Are there places where you can buy loose leaf tea? It all seems to be tea bags and I don't fancy sitting for ages ripping open tea bags - I will if I have to though!

Cheers
Phil

Just looking at the boss the missus picked for me because she couldn't find the red box. She got the yellow box Tesco tea bags - not a patch on the red box. Tastes like dishwater and nowhere near as strong.

The Tesco's tea bags in a red box sounds like the same ones I used to take over to Germany in the early 80's.
They managed to get through 1600 tea bags every 6 months ....... not bad for a German family

Agree that you can't beat a nice pot of tea .......... Brook Bond Divi (green packet with orange "divi" stamp)

Regarding coffee. Yes, it seems to be offered everywhere. I was a bit surprised to learn that it is the second most traded commodity in the world; after oil.

Source: http://www.tiptoptens.com/2011/01/31/to ... mmodities/

1. Crude Oil
When we say “CRUDE OIL” it doesn’t only mean Hydrocarbon liquid but a lot more than that. The crude oil producers are normally the Middle East; it is being extracted out of the ground, transported to refineries through pipelines and then shipped to tankers to the markets all over the world. It is one of the top ten traded commodities of the world; in fact it is the most traded commodity.

2. Coffee
It might be a great surprise for you but coffee really is the second most common traded commodity of the world. It is produced in South Asia, Asia and Africa and the main consumers are United States and Europe. You can see the fact that 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed in the world everyday!

I'm not in the 1%, but still feel I make a significant dent with my 1/625,000,000th contribution each day.

Even in Indonesia, just arrived this evening, there is an increasing numbers of coffeeshops on the way from
Jakarta airport to Pondok Indah area. Amazing.

A half shot of Peach Brandy turns even a mediocre cup into gourmet coffee ;) . (IMHO)

I like the Japanese Maid Cafes.

I wonder if it will catch on here like Japanese food has.

This one called At Home World has two hour queues to get in.
Just like that Bathroom Tap place opposite Maccy Dees in UD Town at weekends.

Like Phil, i buy the red tesco tea - cheaper than others and tastes better. Not brilliant, but a good everyday cuppa.
