7th Anniversary Coming Up- Where, How to Celebrate?

Post by milkman » November 10, 2012, 3:04 pm

Boys, It's my wife and my 7th wedding anniversary coming up this week. Seems like yesterday... We had family over to mom's house, then in the evening hosted 380 guests at Charoensri Grand (370 her friends and family!). Food, music, 2 singers... Biggest party by far I've ever given- after subtracting cash presents, cost me $1000!

My question: Where to take her for our Anniversary? Any romantic ideas or stories about what you've done to celebrate would be much appreciated. =D>

Don't be a loser, don't comment on others if u haven't achieved a thing.

There is a open air restaurant not too far from the old Harrys bar (Soul bar).on the west ring road.
Went there for a anniversary few years ago.(Mod on other forum) Live Soft music, good food. Dont know name, but maybe a member here does. Definitely suitable location.

7th anniversary ???????

Sounds like a box of Kentucky fried chicken and a couple of bottles of Spy Red should do the trick \:D/

Next year you should be able to get away with a plate of somtam, a bottle of Leo and 2 straws (how romantic is that ;) )

Good luck with the night out.
Not sure what romantic gift you can procure in Udon Thani using the dedicated romanticists year and gift list.

7th year is Wool, copper. That's for USA and UK. Thai's may put a different slant on that.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. Boy, it was close, with KFC and Hassa almost being my pick! Ended up deciding to go with Prajaktra Design Hotel for their excellent buffet lunch, 179 baht each. Everything's beautiful and first class- the hotel, the waiters, the food. At Centara, their equally high-level buffet (but with many more choices) is 500-something baht each! I think Prajaktra mostly wants to get extra traffic and visitors to their very fine hotel, so they make the price low. Now I know we could go to Hassa's for 1/3rd the price, plus we'd have Hassa to keep us company, but hey, every now and then I gotta impress the wife and turn on the big money.

Harmonyudon, neither of us know if the $1000 we spent on the wedding included the wine. It was so long ago...

Mortiboy, love to know the name of your restaurant. Sounds like a great place to go!

Shado, love to know more about Wine Society. I once passed by and saw a sign for lunch, but don't know a thing about the place.

Anybody got any other romantic restaurant suggestions? Always great to know. Christmas season's coming soon...

Most likely it is the open air venue Chom Chan. Along the the western ring road between the roads that go to Kut Chap (Pracha Raksa) and Chiang Yuen (Posri Road) respectively. Very often live concerts with soft music. Good food, You can negotiate with them how to avoid their 1 bottle of whiskey package, no beach wear. Concerts would normally start at 21:00.
The next romantic music event will be: 2012-11-19 with-Billy Ogan there.

A few days later there will be a romantic music concert on 2012-11-24 with Uthen Prommin in the second open air club situated along the western ring road - the Cho Cha Ba Its between Prachra Raksa and road leading to the airport. Again Thai classical, i.e. romantic music.

And You are lucky to have the chance to listen to Monkan Kankoon in Yellow Bird on 2012-11-16. Lots of romantic lukthung music.

Less romantic but still worthwile to listen to: Carabao on 2012-11-18 on Tungsri Mueang. Carabao group belongs to the musical genre of Phleng phuea chiwit (Thai: เพลงเพื่อชีวิต; lit. "Songs for Life").

That's it for the next 12 days. It was surely Your decision to expose yourself to Thai culture through marriage. Why not listen to their music every 7 years? :-k
Please wear suitable clothing when attending a concert in Udon Thani. Slacks and short-sleeved shirts are ok, shorts, tank tops or muscle shirts are not.

We just got home. Had a brilliant buffet lunch at Prajaktra Design Hotel. Place is so classy and upbeat looking, I feel classy and upbeat when I'm there! And all for 179 baht per person! As if it wasn't cheap enough, they gave us a 10% discount for having 2 or 3 persons in our group! I highly recommend it, and at that price, you don't have to wait for a special occasion!

We spent the afternoon at my wife's mom's, and did end up at Hassa's in Centerpointe! Finally got to try his Macaroni Fried Sauce, which was excellent, and really too much food- and for just 60 baht! Didn't have a candle- wish I did! Hassa was telling me he's feeling lonely as nobody calls him by name, so if you go, be sure to say, "Are you Hassa?" or "Hi Hassa!" and help him feel special, which he is!
