here is the link.

http://curtis.library.northwestern.edu/

Edward Curtis is the photographer who traveled all over the US taking pictures of Native Americans, trying to understand and catalog their culture, starting in the late 1800's.

This will take you a bit to work through, but is quite interesting. The photos were taken on very large glass plates.

I have enjoyed the Curtis photos for years and have a nice photo of Mosa-Mohave in my computer room. I have a coffee table book collection of some of his photos. Considering time they were, taken, the equipment used the collection is truly magnificant. Thanks for posting this.

Yes, many people are familiar with his pictures of Geronimo, Chief Joseph, etc., without knowing who took them. When I saw this link from an NPR book review, I was amazed that they were available, for free, in one place. I consider it a good find myself. ;) I have looked at many of his photos over the years, but this is the first I have seen them all cataloged together in the 'albums' he took. Enjoy! :D

I picked up Two Whistles from the Witte Museum in San Antonio a few years ago......had it framed locally. Now it hangs on a wall in my computer room.

The example of Mosa, in my opinion, is the most striking portrait among the women in his collection so will share it here.
