I think twill be a great asset to Udonthani , much needed , hopefully Udon can muster up a decent footy team to get into the Thai premier league , whilst in Chonburi i got involved with Chonburi fc , had some great days out and met loads of good people .

My only concern for the new stadium is the location , i think would have been better just oustside of town ringroad or beyond , the traffic will be horrendulus .

LOOKS GOOD THO

Saw this yesterday on the way back from Makro, the plans look very impressive and I'm sure it will be a fantastic asset for the city.

Any Idea when it is scheduled to open? We should be able to get a 5-aside tournament going....maybe.....wishful thinking eh?

It's the right location, railway just up the road, and off Highway 22, and not far from me living in Nong Bua. Udon's most sought after area.

it appears to be moving along Thai time wise.. I'm sure it'll be done within a year or so.. It looks like it'll have a decent gym, pool, and parking along with the athletic fields.

That's good to hear papaguido, I got told a couple of weeks back that the football field was still months away from being in a playable condition, and that it had virtually no grass at that time ............ he was probably looking at the walking track

Actually your source was correct. My source made an error (according to her I heard wrong), the football field isn't ready but the futsal court is.

Thais spectating or running around in the sun? Ha! Yeah, right...NOT!

The outdoor facilities will hardly ever be used with so much sun and heat and no thought was given to the positioning or size of the awning. It provides partial shade for only a couple of hours after the spectator stands are already ridiculously hot; leaving no time for the concrete to cool enough to benefit from such a brief respite.

They built a stadium which will never see spectators during the day, and there are not nearly enough lights up (yet, at least) to have night games. It is but yet another shining wonder of Thai engineering and design that looks idealistic on a computer and sucks baseballs in reality.

They built a place with little or no planning , ,lack of parking despite the plans and as for a swimming pool, just tarmaced that, so whatever next . A complete Thai cock-up and the openeing ceremony cuased mayhem on the main road. Typical lack of concern for everyone lse who needs to get along with their daily lives.

The place might be salvageable with a bit of American ingenuity and some German engineering. But will they seek it out? Nah.

I'm thinking that location could be pretty darn good for a pavilion - maybe even a dome. Big concerts and limited sporting events sort of thing. But they will likely let the place rot while they scratch their collective heads figuring out why nobody goes there... :)

Typical Thailand.

Except for the football pitch, everything looks finished to me, and has done for months.
These pictures was taken this morning. This evening there was being played handball, I think, at 2 of the pitches (first picture).
There is also basketball pitches, I think, on the other side of the football pitch, but I didn`t go over there.

The basketball courts are completed, my wife and son shoot hoops there on occasion.
