It will be interesting to see what items sell and what will be restocked in a month or two. I bought a box of Better Cheddars crackers 6.5 oz or 184g for 169baht. Best when used by date 8 May 2013. One thing that is nice your check bin is printed out in english.

Better range of goods at Cherm Chims it seems
Looks like a lot of products from USA sold there ?

I think Shado has summed it up nicely, for me 90% or even 95% of my shopping will continue in the likes of the existing supermarkets, food outlets and expenses on certain regular dining out businesses, not going to flip my monthly budget upside down to keep Villa happy to multipurchase goods when shopping at their outlet.
Will leave the hiso Thais,Laos and hiso Farang
to purchase eggs, milk, general foodstuffs there and pay by credit card for an even more expensive option
Are these Johnsonville sausages mentioned the bees knees or what
high meat sausages
Might just have to buy some,as long as they are reasonably priced, can be fussy at times

Same mindset as mine TB =D> .trubrit wrote:I have heard they have their own car park away from the multi story. Apparently like their other stores get a ticket stamped for free parking when you check out. Can anyone confirm? This would be great for me as I don't want the hassle of going round and round to park when there is no other shops that interest me. If so where is it? Opposite the Bangkok Bank entrance?
Forgive me, a little slow todaymerchant seaman wrote:If you enter across from the main Bangkok Bank there is VIP parking for Villa...

MS, are you writing about the Bangkok Bank on Prajak Rd., between the Clock Tower and Tuangsri Muang?
I didn't even know Landmark Plaza had an entrance from Prajak Rd. I thought the only entrance was from Udon Dutsadee Rd.?
Or, am I more confused than I thought

That' it. Bangkok Bank on Prajak Rd. Entrance is directly opposite the bank. Walk down one flight of stairs enter Landmark on B deck and Villa Market right there on your left.

KB_Texas wrote:Can you remember what the calamata olives cost Shado? Also, they have Greek yogurt, did anyone see real Greek Feta (sheeps milk)? I will go down Thursday and look around too. Sounds like they do have a wide selection of 'new' things for UT.
KB
Calamata olives 6 oz jar = ฿145 (phaaeng mak). (I just love that bill print-out in English) However, they had several types of Calamata olives, some in plastic bags and different prices. Saw sheep's milk feta but already had some at home so didn't check the price. Greek yogurt 7 oz container = ฿59.
Also a nice little selection of kitchen gadgets such as meat and oven thermometers and cooking do-dads. They also have Glad Wrap. I bought 3 rolls as I much prefer it's handling properties to the typical local plastic cling wrap. Oh yeah, nearly forgot, Krusteaz Light & Crispy Waffle Mix = ฿186 (the wife loves waffles and my homemade ones never seem to be crispy enough. Will give Krusteaz a try although I think my waffle maker simiply doesn't get hot enough.)
Prepare to be there a while KB, you'll see stuff that you had long forgotten about. All tempting, all pricey but worth treating yourself to within reason.

The farang food I bought at Villa Market today:
Salami 110 baht
Jarlsberg cheese 6 slices 220 baht
Wasa "knekkebrød" 148 baht
I was very disappointed of the bread section! Really poor!!

There was no selection of bread. Also fresh meat and poultry was just as bad. Was hoping to get some ground beef, none.

Had a look today but not impressed. Cheese, only in plastic packs, sliced maybe a dozen slices. My bad memory so do nor remember price but not good. I do remember the price on seedless grapes, 279B a kilo! and over a hundred for a single grapefruit. Don't think I will bother going back.

Saw ground beef in the meat display about 12:30 today. Don't recall the price. There was no selection of bread. Also fresh meat and poultry was just as bad. Was hoping to get some ground beef, none.
Agree, the bread selection was pretty slim. We were looking for some nice freshly baked loaves but didn't see anything that looked tempting. I suspect we will keep on buying Top's ground beef and most of our other meat and poultry at our usual shopping spots.

Well some products in Villa that never I have seen before in Udon and quite thankful for some of them. How long thier inventory will stay so expansive is any one's guess. My guess in a few month's it will be reduced, especially on perishables. I also noticed that although the shelves seemed to be fill they weren't very deep. The freezer section although many imported items only a few of each. Hopefully in the future will still get some of those hard to get imported items. Will just have to wait and see. Tesco's, Big C, Tops, and Chern Chims for the weekly shopping.

I, for one, am quite satisfied with Villa Market especially after discovering the VIP parking off of Prajak road so easy in and out. Yes, most items are more expensive and in time I am sure the stock will be reduced as items that do not sell will not be replaced. This ain't Bangkok yet so not the same customer base. Had a very nice pepper loaf and cheddar sandwich with a chilled crispy vlasic pickle for lunch. My tummy was overjoyed...

Awww, c'mon. Be positive. You guys are just sayin' that because that's always what happens.gudtymchuk wrote: Yes, most items are more expensive and in time I am sure the stock will be reduced as items that do not sell will not be replaced.

Thailand rule of thumb: Buy it when you see it cause you'll never see it again.

But in reality, Carrefour pulled out of the entire S.E. Asian region, for whatever reason. Sorry to see them go.Techland wrote:> The Carrefour closing in Udon was not due to local difficulties but a National decision to pull out of the entire Thai market
That might be the reason on paper, but IMHO the truth is that it lacked customers big time and did not make any profit at all.

Popped in this morning for pricing up of goods, the extra parking area was blocked of so had to use the main carpark area,a little tight for pickups but ok,roped of area on early levels being unroped about 11.30 so best go there about that time.

pomps can you confirm those prices please.
The steak and cheeses particularly seem incredibly cheap.

Have double checked my notebook, the prices are correct, according to what they have written down on their little cards re steak and cheese.Brie is same price as Udon Delices sells at,you just tell them how much you want.Shame not more options up here, did not price up any prepackaged cheeses as like to choose how much I want.
ps tell me which ones seem cheap, might just pop back in a few days and buy a load if they have priced them wrong

Delices sells Brie at 160 baht per *100 grams*. (I know because I buy it all the time) If Villas is indeed 160 baht a kilo, that IS incredibly cheap for brie and I will buy a wheel of it tomorrow!
Same with the Wagyu. IIRC CC offers the Wagyu at 860 (??? I could be way off here) baht a kilo, so if it is 440 baht a kilo for the Wagyu ribeye, I will need to buy a freezer.
